Today we’d like to introduce you to Tailon Edwards.
Tailon, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Let me start off by saying what Royalty is to me. Royalty, the power to control your style and fashion, which’s means to be comfortable in what you decide to put on being confident of being ROYALTY. You ARE what you WEAR. Whether you like it or not, people judge you off what you wear, everybody wants to live Royalty and once you become apart of the Royalty family you’re Royalty 4 life… I started my business January 21st, 2017 my second semester of my senior year of high school. I graduated from the best school in Texas (Skyline of course). I was working at Whataburger, I was telling a couple of my coworkers “man, I’m finna start my own clothing line.” And they would be like: man, you lying you ain’t gone do it. I got my last paycheck which was probably $300-$350, wasn’t much but it was enough to get me started. I went and bought 20 long sleeve shirts and went and got my shirts made. I started with my basic design the Royalty with the crown on the R. A classic, I wore one to school and a couple of my classmates was like “bro, what’s up, bring me one them clean, how much” I sold them for $20 didn’t really make a profit wasn’t trying to, I was excited to see people support something that’s I’ve started. I NEVER did it for the money, I studied the game, fell in love with the business, my passion to create and work. To finally do something I like, I was happy.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No, not at all, being an entrepreneur is really what you make it out of you’re gonna have exciting weeks and you’re gonna have months where you don’t have any customers at all. It’s your determination that’s gone keep you pushing. I went through so much in my life but I always tend to see positive out of all situations. With both of my parents being incarcerated from when I was 13-17 years old, going house to house with my sisters, being absent from school but every time people saw me, I had the brightest smile, the life of the party, I made everyone feel better from the situations they were in despite what I was going through, still to this day.

What sets me apart from others is that I can match ANY shoe whatever shoe somebody sends me, I can make an outfit to match it. I honestly don’t care how the shoe looks I’m going to match it. I focus on the detail in the shoe like if it has suede, metallic, glitter, etc. I’m going to put that in the outfit too. I have all type of styles from baby clothing, swimsuits, Trunks, underclothes, whatever they want I’m in the lab cooking.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was always the center of attention not on purpose though, it just always seemed like the spotlight found me. People loved to be around me, they love to hear me talk or be funny, I have a more uplifting spirit.
I use to play sports, all the way until my sophomore year of high school. I honestly thought I would be playing sports right now, but what threw me off was the lack of support at my games, I never had anybody to look in the stands to cheer for me, I fell out of love with the game of sports & that’s when God introduced me to his plan he created for me.
