Meet Orlando Morales of The Tailor Shop Dallas in Dallas Design District

Today we’d like to introduce you to Orlando Morales.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’ve been in alterations and tailoring for close to 30 years, in business for the past 4. I was the alterations manager/ director for Barneys New York, Dallas. When Barneys closed in 2013, I was given the opportunity to keep the equipment from my shop. At the time, I hadn’t decided if I wanted to continue doing alterations, but when I was given the equipment I knew what I had to do. This was in March, I picked up the equipment in April, and started the business in May. My 1st customer had over 50 suits that needed to be altered, and the rest is history.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Honestly it really has been pretty smooth.

A friend of mine work for a company that had a space at his store. At the time, I had been working from my home. We met worked out a deal, I moved to my new location on Dragon street, in July. The only struggles I had was trying to keep up with the work load, fortunately I have been pretty blessed.

We’d love to hear more about your business.

Known for my great customer service, where we do the alterations that fit your style.

We are proud to know that when a customer leave my shop they are satisfied with outcome.

What were you like growing up?

What has been the proudest moment of your career so far?

Noe of Noe’s Kustom Kutz in Irving not only specializes in mens and boys hair cuts, but also gives back to his community when able. He’s been in business since 2003 and has provided free back to school hair cuts for as long as he’s been in business. This past year as part of a grand opening, he had a big back to school event and had a few other small business join forces with him to provide kids with back to school uniforms, supplies and free dental screenings! I know he plans to do it all again next year as well. He gives special promotions to school aged students and the senior citizens as well.
