Today we’d like to introduce you to Taj Mahal.
Taj, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I got my start in high school, I’ve always wanted to be in front of the camera, the center of attention “in the spotlight” I knew I was born a star. Growing up I was into theatre, dance, performing arts Etc and I’m somewhat a comedian so I knew I would be successful entertaining others. TajTV LGBT social media blogger/influencer was created for my passion for pop culture. I have always been outspoken and very opinionated!
As a young, black, LGBT influencer mainstream media doesn’t always showcase us by in the best light so I created TajTV to inspire confidence, self-love, and a sense of entrepreneurship. Growing up I’ve always been the outcast I knew I was different I knew that right now wouldn’t be my future. I knew my struggle was only temporary. As I moved forward, started to find my passion and started truly being my unapologetic self I felt my goals align. Life is too short to stress over things you can’t control. I created my platform for my viewers get through life, laugh, smile. We all go through things but at the end of the day let’s get through it together.
Has it been a smooth road?
I had to struggle with life. Not going to sugar coat but life gets the best of us all sometimes, but it’s not about what you go through it’s the mind frame. You have to ground yourself and know that your struggles don’t define you nor do they dictate your future.
Please tell us more about your work. What do you do? What do you specialize in? What sets you apart from competition?
TajTV I specialize in celebrity gossip, entertainment news and all things pop culture. In addition, I also specialize in product reviews, reaction videos, lifestyle videos. Whew just come get the Tea with TajTV! I’m known for my unapologetic outspoken opinion. My viewers (my fans) love when I am LOUD, LIVE, and IN COLOR because they can all relate. I’m proud to be a young, black, LGBT creator and influencer that touches so many people of so many groups from young to old, black white, gay-straight. I connect with all people and that’s what makes me proud to have a brand that aligns with all people regardless of the outside factors.
What sets me apart is there is so many negative stereotypes focused around black gay men in general especially here in Dallas you don’t see too many positive influences in the community actually making things happen without falling into the negative stereotypes of being overly feminine about nothing but drama well not over here, here at TajTV I’ve built my brand on positivity and being true to myself and that’s loving who I am and embracing others. You don’t have to be messy, shady, or nasty to be successful it just comes with hard work.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
TajTV will be picked up from a local/national network. My entrepreneurship/social media marketing company will be fully off the ground. I will travel the world mentoring and helping others grow their business via social media. I will be opening multiple businesses in several markets from beauty to tech Etc.
