Meet Tamara Spivey-Lane of Spivey Lane Salon and Bridal in Fort Worth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tamara Spivey-Lane.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Tamara. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I have always been in customer service, from babysitting to working retail at a bait and tackle shop. I always had a love for hair because we would play “beauty shop” in my grandmother’s salon. After going to college, I worked in the stock brokerage industry for almost 10 years, I got laid off. While trying to find a job I realized I wanted a career and skill that no one could take away from me. Attending Ogle School in Hurst was life changing for me and I fell in love with all thing beauty so much so that I also wanted to teach. I worked at a great little salon in Keller then decided to open up my own salon in Roanoke.

Has it been a smooth road?
A new business is always a struggle, the struggle of finding the right place, all the logistics of obtaining and delivery of equipment, remodeling, employees, and them clients. We just took everything one step at a time and had faith we were on the right track. We will be celebrating our one year anniversary on November 4th and I couldn’t be more pleased.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Spivey Lane Salon and Bridal story. Tell us more about the business.
We have a team of stylists with the singular goal of making their customers look as good outside as they feel in. Simple as that may seem, they reach said goal with an astonishing assortment of techniques. Whether maintaining an everyday look or preparing for a special event, they’re salon treatments run the full gamut. Coloring, facials, waxing, updos, and precision cuts are just the beginning. Spivey Lane Salon—which specializes in all things bridal—can also treat hair with long-lasting Brazilian Blowouts or apply professional makeup for wedding parties, the team will even travel to clients as needed.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I’m currently working on my Wells Master Color Expert classes as well as attending the Master Styling program. Besides finishing up these and growing the business, we will just continue to refine and sharpen our skills on a daily basis. We are a strong believer that when you stop learning, it’s time to move on. I love this industry that it is always changing. I cannot wait to see what it brings next.
