Hi Tamika, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
I am a small business owner who is a current cancer patient and previous 2-time survivor. I am currently undergoing Chemotherapy, yet I still manage to maintain business as I should.
I have had Cancer twice before. Once breast and once kidney cancer. This round is also breast cancer, just a different type. I will beat this as well. I already say I’m a 3-time survivor!!! I am a Wife, Mom, and Nana first then I wear a variety of other hats.
Jerry had a rocky start working as a Club Manager before becoming a General Manager at Sonic for 7 years. And before starting our business Just Ask Homecare.
There have been challenges due to lack of funding available for most small businesses. Most small businesses don’t qualify or are under the income bracket. During the pandemic things changed, and the workforce has changed as well. With Jerry working 80-plus hours most weeks it made me see how my own business was something that We needed. That brings us to today.
A small veteran-owned and operated family business. It has not always been easy, but I would say pretty smooth for the most part! The people that we have worked with, Michelle and Tim, and them knowing we are hardworking and honest people have made it smooth! The people we have met and referred to by her have been on time and provided other opportunities.
We are Just Ask Homecare : We provide homecare services of all kinds hence the name Just Ask. If you are not sure if we provide the service Just Ask. A few of our services are House cleaning, Lawn care, Handyman, carpet cleaning Just to name a few. We are also Property Managers and turnover cleaning for Airbnb if needed.
Happiness for me is waking up and getting to be me and doing the things that I love to do. My family and friends and my business is what makes me happy.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
It is going to be hard!!! Most things that you want in life are and nothing that I would not do again. It has been worth it.
