Today we’d like to introduce you to Tammy Mcquirk and Antonio Morales.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Tammy and Antonio. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started my professional career as a Commercial Real Estate Property Manager. As a Property Manager, you are responsible for managing everything from janitorial to landscaping, construction as well as managing your team. Most importantly, you have to keep your customers happy. Towards the end of my 16 years in this industry, I lost my joy. While working to make sure everyone else was happy, I wasn’t.
As grateful as I am for the experience and knowledge I gained, I felt empty. I put all of my life into my work while sacrificing valuable time with my family as well as my mental health. While speaking to a close friend, I was encouraged to speak to a group of decision-makers in need of janitorial services. I brought along Antonio for knowledge and support, he worked in the janitorial industry for over 15 years and is a wealth of knowledge.
We presented our services and solutions to this group and they signed a contract with TAMRAK Solutions before we left the meeting that evening. It was our very first contract. Through this group, word of our services spread quickly and trying to keep a full-time job and run TAMRAK on the weekends became impossible. Through the perfect storm of circumstances, Antonio and I were both able to make TAMRAK Solutions our full-time gig.
Has it been a smooth road?
Life is full of challenges. We have never owned our own business so there was a huge learning curve. We are a small business so titles mean absolutely nothing. You may be the owner, but you are also the receptionist, the accountant, HR and customer service. We had to learn work-life balance while still focusing on keeping our customers AND our employees happy and satisfied.
Please tell us about TAMRAK Solutions.
TAMRAK Solutions is a Facilities company. We are a one-stop-shop for all of your property needs. Our services include janitorial, power washing, porter service and light construction, brick and stonework. I’m very proud of the fact that TAMRAK is a women and minority-owned certified enterprise. It can be tough at times, negotiating construction contracts being a female in a male-dominated industry. I am very lucky to have Antonio to help me navigate through it all.
We strive to make sure our employees know how valuable they are to us. We have regular face to face visits with them, address any concerns and we always thank them for their contribution. We make sure our customers know how much we value our team. Our team protects our name, our shield… if we aren’t taking care of them, they won’t be motivated to take care of our customers.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
As the industry moves towards automation, it will be our goal to stay ahead of the game in order to offer our customers the most advanced and up to date services with the intent on helping them to maximize cost savings.
