Today we’d like to introduce you to Tammy Richmond.
Tammy, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Well, the simplified version of getting to where I am today is I’m an extremely focused person. I stay more focused on not just my goals but my call (purpose)will better describe what I mean by “my call.” I’m unmoveable in my belief that everyone has their own unique purpose that only they can fulfill. I knew as a child (unable to put words to my feelings) that I had something pushing me toward a huge expression of greatness. So I maintained a certain innocence of staying true to my purpose by doing the things I LOVED as a child. For example, as a child, I loved writing poems and skits.
Which led me to be a published writer as an adult. I enjoyed seeing people respond to a new experience which helped me give so many mentees their first experience at something through my mentorship. These are just two examples of how I maneuver and navigate my life from one place to another. Ok, that is just one dynamic of my start to today – the other would be how to overcome the struggles, pain, setbacks, life brings us all. There again as a child I was fortunate to have an extremely nurturing family (to a fault at times) that insisted I give my pain a voice, that truth was told and that healing is always available (with doing the work).
In addition, most importantly, my Faith-based foundation it has afforded me the opportunity to stand on principle, integrity, hope and most important LOVE. One may think how does the combination of childhood experiences and Faith help in the marketplace? My observation with over 30 years experience in corporate America, more importantly empiricism as a wife and a mother of 3 adult children you bring the essence of ALL your experiences good, bad indifferent to every table you sit at that’s why it’s imperative to accept the challenge to grow, admit the need for someone smarter/stronger in your less strengthen areas, remain educated, and be yourself ALWAYS!
Staying true to my call has given me the patience, fortitude and endurance to bring a 20-year vision of BNO Electrical, Inc. to fruition. With that being said, as a Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB) a Minority Woman Business Enterprise (M/WBE) right in the heart of downtown Arlington, TX. I am ecstatic about the perfect timing and time for BNO Electrical, Inc. (BNOEI). We have been afforded some of the best opportunities as a Sub-Contractor for The Department of Defense (DOD), Construction and Non-Construction Supplier! This Trillion dollar industry falls in place with achieving BNOEI mission as a generational business creating jobs for many families to not just survive but thrive being apart of such an AWESOME TEAM!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No! Can I say HELL NO in this interview? Ok if I can’t say it in print let me say I’ve had to TELL THE HELL of adversity, delay, denial, a new kid on the block, racism, sexism, running out of ink and paper at the most inopportune time, etc. NO! How I say NO goes back to my Faith foundation I shared earlier. I’ve mastered the ability to expect non-smooth roads and prepare for an alternate road of course that keeps me going in the same direction. I’m settled on the fact nothing bringing positive change is unchallenged.
I believe when you’re in purpose on purpose, obstacles meant to be stumbling blocks become steppingstones as long as you remain focused on answering your call (purpose). Here’s one of at least 10,000 examples I will share. In this Trillion dollar industry, you must be vetted, really who will do million dollar contracts with a total stranger? Meaning all the background checks for certification with DOD, NCTRCA, TEXAS HUB, SAM verifying your legitimacy in doing business you still need references for each bidding opportunity.
Well, if you’re the new kid on the block with NO REFERENCES aka Start-up business how do you move forward? I was there and the best recommendation I can give to this type of struggle is staying connected to what I call destiny helpers! I’m connected with ONLY what and who I need to accomplish my end result. One of the imperative pieces of a smooth road is to ONLY HAVE THE PEOPLE NECESSARY THAT LEAD TO THE ADDITIONAL NECESSARY PEOPLE in other words the road which has struggles does not need UNNECESSARY PEOPLE on it!
With that being said my connection to Arlington Chamber of Commerce, Ft. Worth Metropolitan Black Chamber of Commerce, NAMC assisted in BNO Electrical, Inc. overcoming struggles along the way. Stay PROPERLY connected!

BNO Electrical, Inc. is a supply and wholesale distributor of electrical products for Department of Defense (DOD), construction and non-construction goods. We specialize in electronic components and other hardware for the Aerospace industry. BNOEI is an authorized distributor for more than 1,000 major manufacturers. BNO Electrical, Inc. is in conformance based on the ISO 9001-2008 Equivalent Standard conformance to ANS/ISO/ASQ/Q9001-2008. Our specialty is lighting fixtures, and LED Lighting. “We bring light to your life.”
We offer superior service, exceed expectations of our customers, provide early delivery (which we consider “On Time”) and do it all with integrity! However, what sets BNO Electrical apart from others is our impeccable team! I’m grateful and proud of having satisfied customers but I know that only comes from the well-oiled team machine! As President/CEO of BNO Electrical, Inc. I can only go as far as the talent, gifts, and abilities our team brings to the vision. I’m Blessed to have a trustworthy, educated, dedicated, MATURE, and focused team.
We have one band, one sound mindset that works in our favor and more importantly our customers. I’ve been called “Boss” on several occasions and I cringe at that title so much so I DON’T answer to it. I’m a leader and I lead! To be entrusted with someone’s time and livelihood my objective is to an employee to empower our team to financial freedom, pursue their individual aspirations, provide for their family and do it with such precision it eliminates their need to ever be gainfully employed by anyone other than BNO Electrical, Inc. from generation to generation!
