Today we’d like to introduce you to Tanya J. Miller.
Tanya, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Probably, about 15 years ago or so, I began writing a weekly blog called Talking with Tanya. Literally, it came out of me just wanting to help people figure out how to do life, you know how to figure out how to fit all these crazy pieces of life together so you can do life right, so you can do it well. When I did it, people kept telling me it felt like I was talking directly to them. That feeling and ability is something I wanted to translate into a full-blown business, and about 3+ years ago, I did with Tanya J. Miller, LLC as a speaker, author, coach, and strategist.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Haha really?! Um, no way not at all. Everything, every day is a learning curve seriously. Everybody is a coach, an author or speaker these days; figuring out how to have your authentic voice while still engaging people that want to do business with you is an everyday journey, but we’re sticking with it and pressing our way nonetheless.
More than anything, you have to figure out what works best for you and your business because it’s not the same for everyone. You also have to figure out what to spend your time, money, and resources on as well, which you may quite possibly spend it all wrong every once and a while, but as my Granny would say: you keep living!
Please tell us about Tanya J. Miller, LLC.
I’m an author, speaker, coach, and strategist. We help people and organizations figure out how to fit the puzzle pieces of life together so that they can do life and leadership unapologetically on purpose.
We know and believe everyone is here on this earth for a reason, that reason starts with their purpose and ignites their passion, helps them formulate a vision, to eventually arrive at destiny. We work with people and organizations to figure that all out, so they can do it all on purpose for themselves every day of their lives.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
I would say probably when I first realized I loved to write. It was in the fourth grade, a teacher was Ms. Jones, and she was our writing class teacher. Every day she would give us a writing prompt and we’d come up with a story to write in our composition books (lol, I aged myself). Well, one assignment in particular we had was to compose a creative writing piece, but it had to be based upon a real-life event. Well in the 90s Da Brat’s “Funkdafied” was popular, and I came up with a creative way to tell the story of my cousins and I being in the country in East Texas and encountering the biggest bug we’d ever seen, hence the title “Bugified”. That was the beginning, and I’ve loved writing ever since.
