Meet Tanya Lam of Alchemy Lash and Brow in Oak Lawn

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tanya Lam.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Alchemy Lash & Brow’s beginnings began at Ooh La Lash, when I was only 20 years old, huddling over facial beds, learning to place one lash at a time slowly from my mother to make some spending money. My family had wanted me to pursue a medical career of some sort. Something that everybody thought was stable. But I couldn’t get myself to believe in doing what everybody expects.

I found myself enjoying the work I was doing only part time and felt like this could be something I could do for the long run. I saw how well my mom had ran her place and decided I would like a place of my own as well. I was fortunate enough to learn from her and have her guide me through the way. After working with her for about 3 years, I decided to take the leap and that’s how Alchemy Lash and Brow started/

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I believe that being able to have learned from my mom gave me a good head start in the industry. I was also able to get started before eyelash extensions were really known. Now it’s a must have service for most of the women in Dallas. I believe expanding and adding employees have been the biggest struggle. Now there’s someone I would have to train and guide along the way. I love being able to teach someone else the art of eyelash extension and helping them build their own clientele.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Alchemy Lash & Brow – what should we know?
My business is inside a small building that has been renovated from a multifamily into a commercial building. I have a very unique set up, in a super charming building. Not only do I do eyelash extensions, I also specialize in Microblading and lash lifting. Since I have been doing eyelash extensions the longest, I would say I am an expert in that field. I am very proud of the work I do, and the satisfaction I get when a client is happy with their service. I believe we stand out from many of the other places because we dedicate enough time to service each client. Along with that, we use the best of the best products. We don’t lower the quality just to make more money. We want to make sure what our clients receive is worth every penny. We have the most talent and dedication when it comes to providing our services.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I believe being meticulous is the most important characteristic to have in the beauty industry. Every lash applied must be placed correctly on each individual eyelash. Every stroke has to blend in naturally with the client’s natural hair growth in Microblading. Having great attention to detail has made my business as successful as it is now.
