Meet Tara Valure of Tara Rochette Valure

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tara Valure.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Tara. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I was a therapist for several years working with severely emotionally disturbed children. Many had been sexually, physically and emotionally abused and felt hopeless. I deeply cared for the children I worked with but after time, my career became too emotionally taxing and I was ready to make a change. I have no formal training in art but after seeing a custom steel table from a local artist’s studio where I lived in Ft. Lauderdale, I was immediately drawn to it.

I called the artist, volunteered to be an intern and started working with power tools that day! Instantaneously, I felt I had found my true niche in art, although I have no formal training. I was excited, inspired and happy again. I enjoy using found items that some consider worthless or junk and the process of transforming them. That seems to be a consistent theme in my life. I tend to see the beauty that can be brought out in objects and people.

That is my passion and motivation. It’s why I build sculpture and furniture and why I’m an Adjunct Psychology Professor. I enjoy making the world around a more beautiful place.

Has it been a smooth road?
I was fortunate to fall into the hands of a very talented mentor, Peter Giovenco. Learning to build was always a pleasure but it also requires physical strength and one can’t be timid when working with fire and power tools. I made many sacrifices to follow my passion. I quit my career as a therapist, gave up a decent salary and when I wasn’t selling pieces, had to remind myself not to compare my path with others.

I had to trust that following my dream would pay off. There have been many sacrifices, but when I look around at all I’ve created, I’m filled with pride. I’m just like anyone else. The only difference is that I listened to my intuition and believed in myself. All of us are capable of doing extraordinary things if only we trust our hearts and do the work necessary to get there.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Tara Rochette Valure – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I’m proud of being a woman welder. I create one of a kind items such a lawn and wall sculpture, furniture, lighting, unique chairs and commission pieces. I have been told that my style has an elegance and grace, possibly due to the fact that I enjoy expressing my feminine side. I am most proud of the chairs I built at the beginning of my career because I love architecture and chairs are my true passion.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Dallas has so much to offer. I’m a Florida girl but have really enjoyed all that the city has to offer. I’ve been in Dallas the past 12 years. There are so many interesting festivals, art shows and galleries. So many options!

Hello Tara! I found ya. It’s Kelly (Spcy Kjn), Carolyn and Regina’s friend from Va Beach. I love the roses you do! Would love to see more of your work and see if you would be interested in creating me an entry piece that reflects my last name on my property. Look forward to hearing from you.
