Meet Tara Rydl of www.HolidayHangups.com

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tara Rydl.

Hi Tara, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started a DIY blog called Mom Can Do Anything where I shared DIY projects around the house. I started posting Christmas related DIYS and realized that content had taken over my blog. I decided I needed to give my Christmas content its own space. So, I started decorating Christmas trees year around and posting tips.
I knew I wanted to be retailer, so I tracked down the wholesalers of my favorite products, created a website and began to sell my all-time favorite Christmas products such as lights, ornaments and ribbons. I also wanted to create my own products. So, I started with lights. I found a manufacturer and worked with them to create a line of Christmas lights under the Holiday Hangups brand.
I continue to decorate my own Christmas trees and post Christmas content on Instagram and YouTube @HolidayHangups and sell my favorite Christmas décor and lights, including my Holiday Hangups lights, on my website at www.HolidayHangups.com.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been smooth sailing along the way. In fact, the first year I ordered inventory was COVID and there was a huge shipping delay and extra expense. Most recently, tariffs have definitely affected the Christmas wholesalers and the small business retailers that sell Christmas decorations.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Holiday Hangups is a boutique Christmas décor brand specializing in designer-quality ornaments, ribbons, florals, and lighting that help people create show-stopping holiday designs in their own homes. What began as a personal passion for Christmas decorating has grown into a trusted e-commerce destination known for curated, high-end products and approachable design guidance.
We’re best known for our expertly curated collections—pieces that pair beautifully together, feel elevated, and help customers instantly achieve a “designer look” without needing a professional decorator. Whether it’s our viral cluster lights, our signature ribbons, or statement ornaments, everything we offer is selected with purpose, quality, and style in mind.
What truly sets us apart is our focus on education and inspiration. I don’t just sell Christmas décor—I teach people how to use it. Through social media, blog posts, and video tutorials, I show customers how to build a theme, choose color stories, mix textures, and decorate with confidence. Many of my customers say that Holiday Hangups feels like shopping with a designer who walks alongside them.
I’m most proud of the trust and loyalty the brand has earned. Our community values that Holiday Hangups is both a source of beautiful products and a place to learn. We’ve built a reputation for reliability, honest guidance, and designs that truly elevate the holiday experience.
For your readers, I want them to know that Holiday Hangups offers more than décor—we offer inspiration, expertise, and a curated shopping experience that helps them create holiday magic year after year. Whether they want a classic, whimsical, elegant, or Ralph Lauren-inspired Christmas look, we provide the products and the know-how to bring their vision to life.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
I find inspiration on the daily from other Christmas decorators on Instagram and YouTube. There are so many creators out there that have gorgeous ideas. I also love going to the Dallas Home and Gift Show every year to see the amazing Christmas displays.
