Today we’d like to introduce you to Tay Harris
Tay, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My name is Tay Harris, and I was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. I’ve always had a passion for success, even though I didn’t see many people around me chasing their dreams. So, I made it a point to pursue higher education. At 23, I started my first business, “Beauty by Taywayy.” I began with makeup lives and really putting myself out there. I wanted to take it to the next level, so I started selling mink lashes, which weren’t that popular in Dallas at the time. That was my first successful venture!
I remember wanting my business to be the best. Instead of hiring a web designer, I took it upon myself to research and create my own website. I even found this amazing artist on Instagram who did a portrait of me, which became my banner for a while. It’s cool to see how far things have come, and I can proudly say, “I DID IT first” in Dallas! After launching my website, a local business owner asked me who designed it because they loved it. That’s how I started my second business, “Bougie Branding,” as a web designer.
I found so much joy in helping other business owners like myself bring their dream sites to life. I remember wanting my own professional website and seeing prices around $1,000. I wanted to provide quality websites for entrepreneurs who might not have that kind of budget. I officially started my business on June 23, 2018, and I’ve learned so much while helping so many people. Now, at 30, I’m about to launch my third business, and this time, I’m making my mark with my name – Tay Harris!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Throughout my journey, I’ve encountered challenges, particularly when it comes to being true to myself and putting myself out there. It’s normal to feel scared and question your choices when you’re trying something new, asking yourself, “What am I doing?” and “Why am I doing this?” However, it’s crucial to remember that your path is your own. Not everyone will support or understand your journey, but it’s important to stay authentic to yourself and cling to the vision you have for your life and the promises you believe God has made to you.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a professional makeup artist, web designer, and product marketing specialist! Depending on the social media platform, I’m recognized for different aspects of my work. I take great pride in achieving all the goals I set for myself; it’s a significant accomplishment for me. When I take on a project, I do it with passion and strive for excellence. That’s why people trust that anything with my name on it is of great quality. What truly sets me apart is my drive. I may not know everything or have all the answers, but my love for learning keeps me growing and improving.
Any big plans?
I’m excited to share that I’m currently working on my third business venture, set to launch in early fall. I’m taking things back to my roots by relaunching my eyelashes and introducing Raw Hair Extensions, which has always been a dream of mine. Additionally, I’m in the process of launching my first book series, where I’ll share all the valuable lessons I’ve learned as an entrepreneur!
