Meet Taylor Moody of The Connect Dallas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Moody.

Taylor Moody is the founder of The Connect Dallas. She’s from the DFW area but was originally born in Iowa. Taylor loves everything about Dallas, especially the food, the people, and the culture. She moved back to Dallas from Chicago, where she graduated from DePaul University with a degree in Political Science and a minor in Intercultural Communications.

While in Chicago she spent years working with social and community organizations and planning programming and events for students of color at her university. She founded The Connect Dallas back in 2017 after moving back to her hometown and seeing a need for a positive space in the city where millennials could come together and make real and meaningful connections.

Taylor started The Connect Dallas with a meetup group and quickly realized how large the demand was for millennials to make friends and meet people. She loves what she does because bringing people together has always been something that she enjoys.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Bringing people together has been something that has always come easy for me. That being said working in a city as diverse as Dallas, with new people moving here every day, keeping up with the different interests has been a challenge.

When The Connect Dallas first started out we wanted to have tons of different events but realized soon that focusing on bringing people together was more important and doing in simple ways was far more effective.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about The Connect Dallas – what should we know?
The Connect Dallas strives to be a resource for young, Black, professionals in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex by fostering powerful connections to the community; promoting meaningful relationships; and maintaining an environment that is welcoming and diverse—through love, laughter, service, and friendship.

There aren’t many places you can go where you can make friends, build your business, discover new interests, and explore your city all at the same time. We strive to be as inclusive as the makeup of Dallas and welcome anyone looking to build something meaningful for themselves and their community.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
The community. The young professionals who attend our events. The organizations that partner with us. We are thankful for them all.

I’m a strong believer in the fact that it takes a village to come together and create something impactful and I’ve definitely had a village of people to support my vision and dreams. The Connect Dallas has never been about one person, it’s about all of us.
