Teandra, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My lash career started by surprise one day. I am a professional cosmetologist but I haven’t been in the business for a few years prior to starting lashes. One evening, I took a try at preparing my own lashes and I said to myself, “I bet I can do this for so many other people!” I took the class and practiced my technique, then a small business grew from there! Sometimes, I say a little birdie whispered in my ear that night!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road to having a small business has not been far from easy. I keep my faith first and belief in myself second. My most difficult challenge has been battling with being part introvert.
Being an introvert challenges me when it comes to marketing and this is a big portion of my success in this business. I continue to push myself and overcome my fears. With time, this has helped me improve my marketing and I find myself gaining more clientele.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Whipped by Teandra – what should we know?
The name of my company is Whipped by Teandra and I have a lash extension company. I am most proud of my work and the end result. I love the moment when a client looks into the mirror and sees the finished look!
What makes me different than the rest is my patience. I think being patient is a gift and I think I use it well. Here’s a short story on why patience is key: I remember going to get a new lash set and it took the technician 1 hour to finish. I was shocked but pleased with the service. Now, usually performing a new set of lashes can take 1.5 hour-2.5 hours. It was just my luck that on the same day my lashes began to fall out and it wasn’t even a full 24 hours yet. This is why I believe being patient and performing a well quality service is important. My patience equals attentive and quality service. When a client walks in, nothing is more important but that client.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I believe the following qualities and characteristics are important to my brand including being punctual, being friendly, being exciting & energetic, providing a quality service, giving the client what they asked for, being reliable, being kind and providing a reoccurring quality service. I believe that quality is better than quantity!
