Today we’d like to introduce you to Temi Iyaomolere.
Temi, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
From a young age, I was always the type of person to self teach; if I didn’t know how to do something, I would figure it out on my own. during my middle school and high school years I fell in love with accessories. I would match earrings and bracelets and much more! Accessories were my own way of expressing myself. My mom actually gave me my first waist beads when I was in middle school. I didn’t really understand the meaning for them at the time, but I did know that they were very important to me. My waist beads were actually my inspiration behind this business. It was not until last year in August that I introduced Tribyl Co. For almost a year I have been trying to think of a business name and was actually directed to this name by God. It was at a time in my life where I didn’t know where to go or what direction I would be heading in. I wasn’t really satisfied about where I was at that point in my life. But when God surprises you, HE really surprises you.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. Starting your business is not easy, but it’s worth it. You learn a lot about yourself throughout this journey. There are times when I feel like giving up but then what was the whole point of this? In this business, you HAVE to step out of your comfort zone. I actually attended an event this year being a vendor for the first time and selling my products. I was very nervous and usually I would be an attendee at these types of events but instead, I was participating. You get a very different perspective and respect for other business owners out there. That is an experience I will never forget because it taught me that everything isn’t gold and glitter, there is hard work that you need to put in.
Please tell us about your business.
Tribyl Co started mainly as an accessory brand but that isn’t my stopping place. Tribyl Co (pronounced trib·al), which was Tribyl Accessories at the beginning if it’s birth is actually the initials of my name followed by the word “byl.” Tribyl Co is a brand that stems from inspiration. Ensuring that many different cultures around the continent of Africa are showcased through simplicity, persona and lifestyle using accessories, apparel, decor, colors and more. I want to Showcase the simplicity and creativity in the culture around Africa. Now Africa is a big continent and you’re probably wondering how? Well, you have to start from somewhere and I am wanting to make this big impact in my own creative way. My number one selling product is my waist beads. The waist beads are hand-made and customize to fit any women wanting to beautify themselves.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I wouldn’t do anything differently, to be honest I have so much to learn and that is what I am most excited about. The decisions I’ve made so far for my business has gotten me to where I am at now. Any mistakes I try to correct in and move on I also remind myself that I am not on this journey alone.
