Meet Terri Bailey of DFW Wonder Woman in Dallas and Fort Worth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Terri Bailey.

Terri, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
For those of you who WONDER… I started being Wonder Woman to volunteer at the Dallas Children’s Hospital 3.5 years ago. Over the years, I have taken her to the next level. I am Diana, Daughter of Hippolyta Queen of Thymescira Island. I believe in Love; I am Wonder Woman. With over 50 plus Wonder Woman Cosplays I bring magic to those who love Wonder Woman. Have really focused on being accurate to the character, whether it be comic books, TV show, or the Movie. In tandem, Mashups are a blast. What are Mashups? You take the character, and another one put them together. I love my Jedi Knight/Wonder Woman.

I Co-Founded Cause to Play a little over a year ago, to cosplay for sick, disabled and underprivileged children. We are very active here all over Dallas and Fort Worth.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The challenges of being Wonder Woman are that she is very well known. You really have to be on point when it comes to emulating her. The kids are smart and know if something looks off, they will call you out. Yes, I have been told by a few kiddos over the years, “you dont look like the real Wonder Woman.” To that, I smile and say, “what does the real Wonder Woman look like”? Funny how it usually ends up being a description of well, me.

The challenges of starting a charity have been few but not many. Fortunately, we have a fantastic group of volunteers that help create the magic for the kids.

DFW Wonder Woman – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
DFW Wonder Woman is my brand. I do events all over the Metroplex. Private parties, corporate events, even special appearances.

I think what sets me apart from the others is that I stay in character, have over 50 looks my clients can choose from. With that comes Props! I have six swords and shields, daggers, bow and arrow, and Lassos! I tend to involve my clients in the fun. Tie one up, ask another what do you want to know. I am very proud that I am able to be other peoples Wonder Woman.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
That is a tricky question. In this instance, it is not a measure of revenue. For me, it is, am I doing something good for my community? Am I creating magic? I suit up 1-2 times a week every week. So I am busy for sure. That I would say is a good measuring stick of success.
