Today we’d like to introduce you to Tevin Coleman.
So, before we jump into specific questions about what you do, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Growing up in Mississippi, my dream was always to play basketball and as a kid, my uncle asked me “what happens if sports don’t work or in the meantime what will you do in free time to make yourself more versatile?” I didn’t have a response at the moment but a few days later I figured it out and at 9 years old, I started my own car washing and lawn service where I served the community and built my clientele pretty fast due to the fact I was young and provided cheap labor. Lol!
The next summer, things began to really expand and I learned more about entrepreneurship and realized my grandfather was an entrepreneur. During the summer, he introduced me to real estate and every home he purchased I was responsible for the removal of trash and remodel debris. He didn’t pay me much and realized I made more money working with my current clientele. After meeting with him, his response was, “you will appreciate it later, knowledge is more important than the funds at your age.” He was right, I stuck with it and worked with him all throughout high school.
After college, I relocated to Dallas and entered corporate America which was very exciting as a salesperson because I knew with great work ethic it would be rewarding. During my first 18 months, I realized the harder I worked the richer I made the company that employs me.
2015, I decided to take a leap of faith and fund my first fix and flip which was a success and gave me the assurance that I needed to move forward. TMC Group focuses on fix and flips but mostly buy and hold long term strategy.
Has it been a smooth road?
As we know all ventures will present challenges along the way. The greatest challenge faced so far was July 2019 I lost my uncle to suicide who I mentioned earlier who challenged me as a kid. He was a key contributor to the success of the real estate business since 2015 and helped bring my first fix and flip to life.

TMC Group is a real estate business specializing in single-family rentals, fix and flips, property management and commercial properties.
As a company, I am most proud of being able to expose younger teens and college students to the advantages of real estate and wealth-building.
What sets TMC Group apart is that we focus on affordable renting and offering a platform to educate our renters on how to navigate from renter to buyer. When it comes to buying we make it as easy as possible for most sellers as we understand every seller situation is different.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Coming from a small town and always having big city dreams there aren’t many complaints I have about Dallas. I consider Dallas the perfect platform for generation bloomers looking to make a name for themselves whether it’s in corporate America or entrepreneurship.
