Today we’d like to introduce you to Drew and Christine.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Drew and Christine. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
The idea for Texas Standard really started at our family’s kitchen table. We are a fifth-generation proud Texan family that just became frustrated that there wasn’t a brand that represented who we are and where we’re from. After seeing so many men’s brands that represent other parts of the country we didn’t identify with, we decided to change the fact that Texas didn’t have anyone to step up and create one.
Has it been a smooth road?
Some of our family has been in apparel retail, but we didn’t have any real experience in the industry – just a passion for our home and a dream of making the kind of quality garments we would want to buy that represents us. We started from square one to design the products and aesthetic of the Texas gentleman. Each step along the way in getting to where we are now was harder and took longer than we expected, but we’ve really enjoyed watching all our hard work come together in a brand that our fellow Texans (and a lot of non-Texans) are enjoying and coming back to over and over again.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Texas Standard clothing company – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
Texas Standard was born from the pride in our home state and is driven by the belief that Texans deserve a brand that represents not only where we’re from, but more importantly, what it means to be a Texan. We are striving to create a brand that represents the ethos of the Texas Gentleman – which to us means shoot straight, get it done right, treat your fellow man with respect, and always hold on to your principles. These characteristics aren’t limited to Texas, but we think they are in higher supply here than in most anywhere else in the world, which is why we think Texans are a step above the rest. We have beautiful landscapes and incredible communities, but Texas ‘x-factor’ is our collective character of constantly striving for something bigger and better.
Another thing that sets us apart is that Texas Standard is a company with a larger reason for being: to honor our home state by directly giving back to make Texas communities even stronger. Before we even launched the company, we founded the Texas Standard Foundation, which mandates that ten percent of all of Texas Standard profits are donated to Texas-focused charities across the state.
What were you like growing up? Personality wise, interest wise, etc.
Drew and Christine were both fun-loving, but very hard working – Drew was raised in Dallas and Christine in Houston, and they met in Austin. They share a lot of interests including anything outdoors, travel, fly-fishing, photography, and art/design.
