Today we’d like to introduce you to Teyunna Riley.
Teyunna, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
It all started out as me as a single mother wanted more for not only myself but for my two sons, ages 6 and 8. I moved to Dallas April 2017 from Paris TX where I was a teacher assistant at Lamar county Headstart. I love decided to move, not knowing what the future would hold but all I knew is that I had faith and I was going. So here I am still in Dallas 3 years later!
It was 2018/2019 when I decided I no longer had the drive to keep being in traffic late hours and little time with my kids after work school so I had to come up with some type of plan. I knew I wanted a business but I didn’t quite know where to start and who would buy my products. I came to a conclusion, I’m starting a T-shirt business, my T-shirt business turned into me doing wine glasses, coffee mugs, headbands, flip flops and much more. I was very thrilled at the level of service I was pushing out as well as the great recommendations it motivated me even more. June 21, 2019 I held my first phenomenal entrepreneur conference In my hometown, Clarksville TX. The conference was strictly business as well as lots of networking. I must say it was a success I had ten vendors with different products as well as three entrepreneur speakers and also the Mayor of Clarksville TX came to present grants that were available for future entrepreneurs. My goal is to motivate each willing individual to sell your self! Go for it, it’s the best decision I’ve made for not only me but for my family!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road is a smooth as you allow it to be, can it get overwhelming? Yes! Some may worry more than others but that’s why you do your research and use your resources. The main struggle I had was making sure I had all the materials I needed to perform my business! I like to stay organized. Sometimes when dealing with lots of things at one time can sometimes keep you from staying organized, but my best advice is to stay focused and organized.
Please tell us about LaShays Lovely Creations.
My business is based off its Lovely Creations. I started off making T-shirt’s, my T-shirt’s became a total success to where I was able to expand my business by making water bottle, wine glasses, and coffee mugs. The creations come from my lovely customers they tell me what they want and I go for it. During football seasons, I’m most known for my shirts, as well as gear for the football boys such as arm sleeves and headbands. I’m most known for great customer service, as well as great product. I normally try to have my product back to the buyer with 2-3 days. I’m a little set apart from others because of my attitude. You have to treat your clients with the up most respect if it’s messed up, fix it. I also have specials throughout the month; buy two shirts get a free customized mug, specials vary!
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Growing up, we didn’t have much, which allows me to appreciate the small things now! I was basically raised on a farm where most of my memories lie. Feeding the animals were the best childhood memory I have as a child, it taught a lot about the different foods and things we eat today.
