Today we’d like to introduce you to Thad Bonduris.
Owner and founder Thad Bonduris has been playing professionally since his teens, and currently holds a Masters in Music Education from the University of North Texas. He has worked with musicians like Chris McCarty, George Strait, Bubba Hernandez, Arthur Barrow, Mario Cruz, and Greg Bissonette, and is currently a member of Local Yoakam and Le Not-So-Hot Klub du Denton. He is also a member of Local American Federation of Musicians 32-147, and Music Teachers National Association.
Mr. Bonduris came to Denton, TX to attend the UNT College of Music in 1974. The “side business” he took on, of being a sole music instructor, quickly mushroomed into a profession, spread mainly by word of mouth, before he’d even finished his music degree. There was no further course to take, other than expansion. Hence, the creation of the music school was one out of necessity. Private, group lessons, and student band participation are now all presently offered.
Mr. Bonduris carefully selects instructors based on professionalism, prestige, and presence in the community. All of our instructors are professionally trained, love what they do, and are passionate about teaching music. They are also experienced performers who regularly play with various bands and ensembles throughout the DFW metroplex.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Fluctuations in her economy find artists and musicians to be the most vulnerable, but we’ve been pretty resilient.
Time management between upholding gig contracts, and scheduling students has always been a challenge since the early days.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Bonduris Music Instruction story. Tell us more about the business.
What sets us apart from others, is that we have a more personalized service, striving to keep students (and instructors) HERE, rather than having a constant turnover.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Not only economic changes, but technological changes (which greatly affected the dynamic of advertising), came rather quickly. This was all synchronous with a rise in completion; what had once been a “fringe” occupation, almost suddenly became an industry.
