Meet Thaddeus J

Today we’d like to introduce you to Thaddeus J.

Thaddeus, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I came from a musical family. My late Grandmother was a Gospel Recording Artist who also was a self-taught pianist, while my mother and aunts sang in the church choir. I began singing at the age of three. Initially leading songs at church and continuing singing throughout my entire schooling and ultimately started pursuing music professionally in 2017. I started songwriting at 11 by entering a school creative writing contest and placing third. I revamped a Jamie Foxx song from his TV Show “The Jamie Foxx Show”. I continued writing and perfecting my craft and end up writing for several independent artists such as Mandell and Jordan Frescher, eventually racking up hundreds of thousands of streams across several platforms. I’ve had a few placements in a couple Web Series. One in particular “Better Now” is the winner of Los Angeles Film Awards, LA Femme International Film Festival, and National Black Film Festival. So, I guess that makes me an award-winning songwriter!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been a very difficult road for me. Fear and a lack of self-confidence has been the primary obstacles I was forced to face during this journey of pursuing my music. There were many days where I didn’t believe in myself nor my abilities. I would constantly compare my talents to that of my predecessors and not what I was blessed with. It took me moving to Atlanta and failing miserably for me to finally get it in my head that I am beyond talented; That I should never let anyone discourage me from what God intended for me. I am now more confident than ever and as long as I believe in the quality of work I produce; it doesn’t matter what anyone else has to say.

Thaddeus J Entertainment – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I started Thaddeus J Entertainment in hopes of spreading my talents with the world. I am primarily a Songwriter first, so with that I also created Pen’d, a Songwriting company. Pen’d specializes in Song Structure, Songwriting and Vocal Production. We craft songs for up and coming artist, independent artists, and established artists. My mission with Pen’d is to create the ultimate Songwriting coalition here in Dallas, TX. There are so many dope creatives here and I want us to join forces to create hit records that are heard all over the world and take over the charts.

In the early stages of Pen ‘ds existence, we recently charted #8 on Amazon Music’s New R&B Releases for Thaddeus J’s debut Ep “concrete.rose”. This was nothing but hard work and manifestation. Goals where set forth last year, at the beginning of creating this project, and so far, everything we manifested has come to fruition! Things that set us apart as a songwriting entity is that was approach songwriting in the form a rap but adding more melody. We keep our lyric rhythmic. Every beat/instrumental has a story that is tailored. We do a great job at carving out that tailored melody and pulling the story from the beat. We never put pen to paper. We do the freestyle writing method. It allows for a more organic melodic flow.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I charted #8 on Amazon Music’s New R&B Releases Chart. When I found this out, I was in complete shock. I honestly spoke it into existence. I told myself last year that I was going to chart in 2020. I just didn’t know whose chart. I’m honestly and completely grateful. It feels amazing to be able to say that I charted. Next is iTunes then Billboards Top 100! I’m manifesting it!
