Meet Thawind Mills

Today we’d like to introduce you to Thawind Mills.

Thawind, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I was born in Irving, Texas in 1975 and after being abandoned and becoming a ward of the court by the state I was adopted in Austin by a Foster Guardian in the 80s. Music, entertainment and construction has always been good for a hyperactive person like myself. Keeping my hands busy and my mind occupied has always been the safest path for me. After receiving a scholarship for writing and paying for the remainder of my education working as a stonemason I found myself being a high school dropout with a college degree. I ran an audio/video production house in Austin for 12 years working on music, art, sfx makeup, making jewelry, blowing glass and building Studios for others until I found something missing in my life which I concluded was love. After this realization I sold my house, my business and all my worldly possessions then I bought a Winnebago and I’ve been on the road making music, jewelry and searching for that one thing ever since.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Being abandoned at such a young age my life has never been smooth and locating my birth family as well as finding my place in this world is always been a struggle however I’ve always looked forward to conquering obstacles that are presented to me. I feel this is what adds sincerity to my music, humbles me and gives me purpose. These experiences I believe are the spice of my life and makes me the character that I am.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Thawind Mills story. Tell us more about the business.
I’m a professional musical Entertainer and jewelry maker. Five years ago I decided to sell my house and my business along with everything I own. I purchased a Winnebago and I’ve been on the road ever since searching for the love of my life while spreading music and joy Everywhere I Go. I provide smiles and entertainment from everywhere to wineries, honky tonks to nursing homes and veteran benefits. From kids to grownups and creatures alike I’m most know for providing uplifting entertainment to anyone looking for it. I’m most proud of being a stonemason but after that my ability to bring a smile the people’s faces and laughter means the most to me. I think what sets me apart from others is that I truly love what I do and you cannot fake sincerity in actually living the life one has.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I’m one of those people that doesn’t feel like luck has anything to do with their life. I have worked very hard to accomplish everything I’ve done and learned, my grandmother always says knowledge speaks whereas wisdom listens and I try to spend as much time listening as I do speaking. I truly love my life and if luck has anything to do with it then I guess I am lucky to be here.
