Meet Tiffany Daniels of THERE{4} Teen Gathering in Fort Worth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Daniels.

Tiffany, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
In 2012, I attended a national teen conference with my daughter, and the mutual experience had a significant impact on both of our lives. I left the conference committing to bring my daughter and friends back every year. However, I was disappointed to learn that the conference would not be continuing. For several years, I searched for a similar spiritual life experience in the United States but found nothing. God continued to press on my heart the importance of this type of transformative encounter for high school girls. In 2015, God made it clear to me that I needed to stop looking for other options and, instead, step out in faith to launch a teen conference myself. With the support of like-minded friends, THERE{4} Teen Gathering was formed, became a nonprofit organization and launched our first teen conference in February of the following year. We have just wrapped up our 3rd conference in February 2018 with over 1100 high school girls in attendance. We are moving ahead to 2019 with great hope of impacting the next generation.

Has it been a smooth road?
Any faith-required initiative will be met with challenges that only God can solve, so I am not at all surprised by the obstacles we have encountered along the way. One of my top priorities is to be able to scholarship girls who otherwise might not be able to afford to attend. This being only my 4th year to run a non-profit, I still realize and respect the amount of time and energy it takes to raise funds. Our board and volunteer team is made up of dozens of creative, practical, energetic people. Being able to give each of them a platform to contribute, while making sure we stay focused on our vision and values takes real intentionality. My first commitment is always to relationships. I am willing to take the time to address conflict and point people to the higher goal of the ministry. The growing awareness of the needs of teen girls is greater than I could have imagined it to be. Today’s teen struggles with personal worth; their identity daily assaulted by social media: mental health issues; pressures of an increasingly sexualized culture; the challenge of negotiating relationships among their peers; both friendships and romantic partners; and concern about their future beginning with acceptance by the college of their choice.

What were you like growing up? Personality wise, interest wise, etc.
I have always loved people. I grew up in a small Texas town but relocated to the big city as a pre-teen. I have always had a big imagination and considered myself a dreamer. My friends described me as a “gatherer of people”. I attended the University of Texas at Austin and received a BA in Architecture. After working for several architecture firms, I made a change and began to work in the foundation office of a hospital. I really enjoyed the job of bringing a community together for a great cause.
