Meet Tiffany Goldsmith of Virtuoso Erudition in Frisco

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Goldsmith.

Tiffany, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Who would ever think I would be a nail tech? I imagined being a stay at home mom tending to my family, but all that came to an end when I moved to Texas. I’m a city girl with fire and ice in my veins, born and raised in Chicago, IL. Mother of five, I relocated to Dallas in December 2014 with my significant other for a better life for our children. That all came to an end with just a few months in things changed and not for good. It was at this point I knew that my reality was no longer. I needed to figure out what I could do to support five kids on my own. My daughter Creek loved watching nail tutorials and I enjoyed watching with her. Sometimes I would practice on her nails. Then like a rock falling from the sky and hitting me on my big toe, I knew how I could support my family and still have fun.

In May 2015, I attended Tint cosmetology and makeup in Grand Prairie, Texas to become a licensed nail technician. I looked forward to financial freedom. Everything was going smoothly. Then a bump in the road appeared and for two weeks, I was stuck at home, unable to attend school due to babysitting issues. On the last day before I would be dropped from the course, I was able to obtain the proper child care my children needed. I was back at school and eager to catch up on all that I missed. In September 2015, I graduated. I was so ready to embark on this new journey. I was given a date to take my state exam to become licensed. I took the test and I failed the practical portion of the test. I was heartbroken. My mother told me I would be fine and to reschedule the test immediately. I did and in January 2016, I passed both written and practical portions of the state exam. I was a licensed nail tech. I immediately began to apply for jobs. I finally got a call back from a nail salon and was hired on the spot. How exciting. I worked for the company for three years. but all good things must come to an end. I resigned from the company and embarked on a new journey. To be my own boss. It was not all glitz and glamour; in fact, it was hard. I wasn’t making enough money so I had to return to the employment pool and worked at two more salons before I realized that it wasn’t making me happy working for someone else, which brings me to my current situation. I’m a business owner working for myself and ohh how it feels so good.

Has it been a smooth road?
If anything is smooth, it’s not right, I told myself. From childcare issues to being homeless, anything that could go wrong went wrong. I wondered what have done to deserve such unfair treatment. One day I was sitting on my porch crying because I just knew all that I worked so hard for would fail. Nothing was going as planned. I couldn’t let this happen. I wanted it so badly. So I bossed up and made lemonade out of lemons—no need to cry over spilled milk, right. I conquered my fears and focused on the positive and not the negative. It all worked out in the end.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
I am the owner of Virtuoso Erudition. An all-natural nail suite specializing in the health and growth of nails. I do everything from gel manicures to CBD pedicures. I use mostly all-natural products, with the exception of acetone and alcohol. I make all my own body butters, scrubs, and foot soaks. I use quality ingredients that will give you an experience like no other. When a client leaves my chair, not only are they satisfied with the service but they have gained a friend/therapist. I pride myself in making the client happy. What they want is what they get. I think that the natural route sets me apart from most salons. No fumes and or toxins so making it safe for everyone, including the pregnant mom the five-year-old girl and the 80-year-old man.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I chose my location based on the need. I haven’t seen to many all-natural salons in the area. I wanted to offer a service that most people would have to travel at least 45 minutes to receive. How fair is that? Spending you’re alone time on the road. By choosing this location, I’m able to give an experience mostly found in the city of Dallas in the quiet suburbs without all the hassle.
