Meet Tiffany Muse of God is a fan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Muse.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Tiffany. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I was born and raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. I moved to Atlanta, GA and attended college at Clark Atlanta University where I received my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology in 2006. After graduating from Clark Atlanta University, I worked for a year with AmeriCorps and tried to figure out what career path I wanted to pursue. I ultimately decided to utilize my Psychology degree in a field that I am passionate about, Education! From there, I applied to several graduate programs to pursue becoming a School Psychologist and was ultimately accepted by The University of Alabama where I excelled! I was initially apprehensive to attend a large Public White Institution (PWI) after graduating from an HBCU and truthfully I didn’t know what to expect. My experience attending an HBCU had been one of culture, community, family, support, and an overall bomb educational experience. I didn’t know if I would I would have a have a positive experience at a PWI being a black woman in the deep south. I was wrong. My experience at The University of Alabama was amazing! Granted, it was not the same as my HBCU experience at Clark Atlanta University but it was definitely one of support, camaraderie, intense academic studies, and football!

I traveled to Tuscaloosa to find an apartment during the infamous A-Day weekend! We were told we wouldn’t be able to find a hotel during A-Day weekend and we had no clue why. We later found out that A-Day is a big spring scrimmage game for the football team, but it still didn’t register for me because “I am here for school, that’s it.” Locals said, “you’ll get bit by the football bug.” Needless to say, I got bit big time by the football bug and became a huge BAMA football fan. The humorous irony is that it’s also considered sacrilegious to cheer for BAMA being a Baton Rouge native (also home to the LSU Tigers). But that’s a story for another day.

I graduated from The University of Alabama where I obtained a Master of Arts Degree in Educational Psychology (2009) and an Educational Specialist (Ed.S.) in Educational Psychology (2010). I have been working as a School Psychologist for 11 years across the United States! One of my favorite school placements has been T.C. Williams High School in Alexandria, VA home to “The TITANS” from the movie “Remember the Titans” starring Denzel Washington. So, my love of football has been integrated into different facets of my life.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The process to start my business was easy but that’s about all, to be honest. I didn’t fully realize how much work I would have to put into it until I delved into the day to day activities, in addition to, finding a graphic designer, trademarking the designs, advertising, promoting, and trying to gain entry into an already established, crowded t-shirt apparel market.  Even with all of this, I’ve learned that you have to have a team of supporters to keep you going, but you also have to be realistic. It takes time to build a brand so definitely don’t compare your brand to others.

My brand is unique, and I know it will continue to grow and thrive. Yet, I also give myself grace, we’re only two years old and ultimately God is my biggest fan.

Please tell us about God is a fan.
God is a Fan, LLC is a small business specializing in T-shirts, apparel, and merchandise for sports fans. God is a Fan, LLC grew out of the God is a BAMA fan T-shirt line. I had a desire to include more universities specifically Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) in my love for football.

The God is a BAMA fan T-Shirt line was created after Alabama won their 17th National Championship against Georgia on January 9, 2018. I was beyond excited after this game I told my best friend, “God is a BAMA fan.” At that moment I asked her if I should make a t-shirt with the slogan. She said yes! That’s when the company was born.

My proudest moment for my company so far has been getting requests from others to have their team added to our brand. That makes me feel great and lets me know I’m on to something exciting! God is a Fan, LLC, unlike our competitors we include God in our brand. We work strategically to come up with designs that are unique and timeless. We want our customers to wear our shirts years from now and remember why God is a Fan of their team! Each shirt is designed for a specific team with a meaning behind it, to further fuel and deepen that connection between our customers and their favorite football team.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
This is tough! I have so many wonderful memories from childhood! My favorite football memory from childhood would have to be attending football games at Southern University and A&M College (Prominent and only HBCU in my hometown of Baton Rouge, LA). My Paw Paw had the best season tickets every year (50-yard line) and he would always give my family tickets to attend.

We went to every home game to cheer for the home team, socialize, tailgate, and of course, listen to and witness the baddest band in the land, the world-renowned Human Jukebox. I highly recommend googling the Human Jukebox to hear them as it will change your life. I’m also a firm believer that God is a Fan of the Human Jukebox as well! These memories are so endearing and have continued with me into adulthood and ultimately laid the foundation for my love of football. Football games are a cultural experience in south Louisiana on all levels (high school, collegiate, and professional).
