Meet Tiffany Ortez-Parish of Lola’s Local Farmers Market in Fort Worth Cultural District

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Ortez-Parish.

Tiffany, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Lola’s Local Farmers Market is fairly new starting back in June of 2018. I thought about how the neighborhoods surrounding Lola’s Saloon and the Cultural District are growing so rapidly and about how few non-corporate options they have for shopping produce. Even if our market is currently only once a month on 2nd Sundays, I feel that we are on to something even bigger. We are building a sense of community and a safe place for farmers and creatives to bond with each other and the locals.

Has it been a smooth road?
At first, it was a struggle to produce vendors to give us a chance, being new on their radar and having many other commitments. We have expanded our vendor list and now feature plenty of produce to go with our other artisans and I feel that our market has a unique and relaxed vibe that keeps our vendors coming back.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Lola’s Local Farmers Market story. Tell us more about the business.
Lola’s Local Farmers Market is a market for the “late-risers” held once a month on the 2nd Sundays from 11am-4pm.

We don’t have a budget from big corporate sponsors, we are all about self-promotion, hard-work, and word of mouth. The love and effort we put forth can be felt throughout one of our events.

We provide a fun, easy-going atmosphere, live music from local artists, local savory and sweet food trucks and cocktails from Lola’s bar. We even host an all-level, donation-based outdoor yoga at 10 am prior to the market and we are pet-friendly as well.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I have high hopes of extending Lola’s Local Farmers Market to more than once a month and I would also like to incorporate hands-on workshops and interactive learning sessions. The goal is to continue to bring the community together as a whole.
