Today we’d like to introduce you to Tim Llewellyn.
Tim, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I was aspiring to play football professionally until I had a major back injury that led to surgery (2014 surgery) when I was playing football at Henderson State University (2011-2015). I went through tremendous ups and downs/trials and tribulations during that time of darkness that taught me so much about life and really served to be the biggest blessing that could have happened in my life.
Because I gained a true understanding of appreciation for the gift of life and how valuable each waking moment is along with each encounter we have with everyone we come in contact with on a daily basis. So I rehabilitated that injury and still had aspirations to play professionally and was training(summer of 2016, I graduated from Henderson State in Winter of 2015) to do so with an Ex-Dallas Cowboy, Willie Pile, for a year until I re-aggravated my back injury.
Right before I re-injured myself, he introduced me to an opportunity to get into acting. The highly rated movie, “Bomb City,” was being filmed in Dallas at the time(2016) and they needed extras. So the producer of the film, Major Dodge, and I got in contact with each other and I was able to be apart of the major brawl scene of the movie and get my first exposure to acting. I absolutely FELL IN LOVE. One door closing, another opening, and I didn’t realize it at the time because I was still grieving the loss of football (the love of my life).
After filming and being on the set of Bomb City for 3 days, I reached out to Major(one of my best friends to this day) and said, “man, what do I have to do to get into acting? I will literally do whatever it takes because I love this and I believe I found my new passion and I want to fully commit. I’ll even move out to L.A. RIGHT NOW if I have to!!!” He told me to pump the brakes on moving out to L.A. until I get some experience under my belt (LOL), but to start training with Glenn Morshower at “The Extra Mile Workshop,” in Carrollton, TX. I signed up as soon as he said that and continued to fall in love.
The workshop has been another one of the biggest blessings in my life, for many reasons. It welcomed me to a place of pure love and newness to become exposed to people who are relentless in their approach to life and going “The Extra Mile” in daily routine, with attitude, commitment, preparation, determination, work ethic, helping/serving others, kindness, etc… I have been going there for two years now and have been extremely fortunate to be booked in a numerous amount of films/tv shows/commercials in a short span of time, right out of the gate.
I am with Linda McAlister Talent in Texas and Trinity Talent in Atlanta/Louisiana. All done with extreme humility and enthusiasm for life on a daily basis, giving all the glory/credit to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, because I was saved from darkness into the light and have an extreme purpose and voice to give back and be a vessel/example of His light and love on a global scale. I plan on moving to L.A. sometime in early 2019. Glenn always says, “You can’t catch a whale in a pond,” (The pond being Dallas) So I am building my ramp/preparing myself mentally/physically/spiritually to the best of my God-given abilities on a DAILY BASIS.
Staying ready for any opportunity that arises and will be ready to rock and roll out in California with an incredible foundation that is consistently growing. Currently, I am also training kids individually for speed and agility through FASST PERFORMANCE & FITNESS (Willie Pile’s program), as well as being a contractor/Sales Rep for a Roofing/Insurance Restoration company, Ashco Exteriors, saving money and helping people in need of new roofs due to the extreme hail damage.
In regards to my college career, and this is all coming from humility and truth, I was able to work my way to the top early on, gaining an amazing amount of recognition (accolades and such) and then losing it all in the blink of an eye and then having to go through tremendous pain, physically and emotionally… the main message is that I lost everything and then was blessed to find it by the grace of God and now have an extreme purpose to give back, serve, and live with an incredible attitude of gratitude/humility/positivity/determination/enthusiasm/fervency/commitment/focus to putting my best foot forward, always Straining forward to what lies ahead, and forgetting what lies behind, with a determined mindset to get better every day, never taking anything for granted.
Standing with boldness and confidence knowing that my heart is in the right place and to have no fear in anything that I do because my intentions are always to come from pure love and joy. I feel and believe that it is important for me to go into great detail about all of this because there are always going to be bumps in the road, for everyone, but it is our choice and opportunity to view those obstacles as opportunities to learn and grow and become stronger from those experiences. Anything is possible if you put your mind to it and believe with all of your heart that you are expressing your soul’s yearning desire and that you are living in a way that helps and serves others as well.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has been quite the contrary. A roller coaster ride would probably be the best way to describe it. Many ups and downs, trials and tribulations, failures, successes… But I wouldn’t trade any of it. Not for a second… It all adds up to be an incredible journey filled with amazing surprises and lessons that you are able to learn from by putting your best foot forward, daily and making sure to do everything with an incredible attitude and mindset. We do not have the plan.
As soon as I completely surrendered and let go of trying to do it “my way,” I was able to be blessed with an understanding of true appreciation for life and to be extremely thankful for the very little things, which are actually the biggest things after all. For example: After going through my back surgery, I was unable to enjoy the daily functions of life. It forced me to appreciate everything about my life. (my devotion to God, lifestyle, nutrition, fitness, etc.). More importantly, it forced me to be fully committed to life itself.
Not tolerating anything less than doing everything with an incredible attitude of positivity, love, and humility, making sure to acknowledge every single person that I come in contact with. Treating everyone exactly how I would want to be treated: with love, kindness, acknowledgment, respect, enthusiasm, etc… Because it ALL adds up. Why not live each moment with enthusiasm and full commitment to being present with listening and engagement in conversation? “This is a brief dance we have on this blue ball we call Earth,” as Glenn Morshower says, and I want to make sure that everything I do is fully committed to excellence.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
My acting career is my priority, and I have a true passion for the work that goes into the preparation for a role and understanding each scene and learning the art from a true professional in Glenn Morshower. I have been able to transfer the mindset I developed from Football and sports growing up into acting, and it has been a very smooth transition. The team aspect of football is very similar to what it feels like to be on set with the entire production crew.
Everyone has their specific role, and each job is extremely important to the outcome of the project. Establishing great communication and enthusiasm for the project itself is imperative to a successful experience. There is a massive stigma attached to the film industry in regards to it being difficult to sustain a long-term career, but I do not look into any of that. I believe that I am truly blessed and will stay focused on the task at hand in being the best actor I can be, growing and learning each day with great support and relationships around me at all times.
In regards to my Speed and Agility training, I love being able to help kids learn how to be the best and most efficient athlete they can be on and off the field. I am blessed to have learned from some incredible coaches/trainers and am extremely thankful for all that they have taught me, and it is an obligation of mine to pay it forward through helping those that I train to become better athletes and people.
In regards to Ashco and our roofing company, I love being able to help people get new roofs. There is a massive need around the DFW metroplex due to the severe hail storms that happen almost every spring, and it is a priority of mine to make sure to represent Ashco with excellence and professionalism on a daily basis.
In all of the fields that I am in, what separates us from the pack, is the way we carry ourselves with the utmost love and humility. We genuinely care to the core and want to serve to the best of our God-given abilities to help people in any way possible.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up I was in love with sports and anything outdoors. Football, baseball, basketball… Could play all day. I was a very determined and driven kid when it came to sports and competition. I was and am still extremely blessed to grow up with an incredible support system in my family. I would not be here if it wasn’t for their endless love and support with everything that I do. Through my darkest moments and best times in my life, my parents and family were the ones who were by my side the entire time, always there for me. With zero judgment and an abundance of love to provide through it all. Words cannot express the gratitude and love I have for my mom (Shirley), dad (Robert), my sister (Amy), my brother (Ryan), his Wife (Heather) and niece and nephew (Colby and Cutter), along with all of my other relatives and family. They mean the world to me. I am incredibly blessed with a family that is rock solid to the core.
