Meet Tim St.Clair

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tim St.Clair.

So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
As a child, I had several great aspirations concerning what I would like to do professionally. I am sure everyone at some point shares a certain dream of doing something they believe is enjoyable to them. Music has always been one of those passions of mine. This was more like a dream, I had no skill to play an instrument and did not know the first thing about how to make this dream a reality. Life moved on.

Growing up, I worked construction with my father’s business and before I was out of high school I joined the military. My professional life consisted of a variety of careers from being a valued employee to owning several very different types of businesses – but never really forgetting my passion. Throughout the years, I have continued to write lyrics, keeping my creative thoughts alive.

Finally, it seemed life opened up and provided an opportunity for me to focus on creating music and following my passion, Initially after having some great songs written my focus turned to creating a band to add the instrumental parts of the equation. Fortunately for me, I have very talented children and Alysia, my youngest daughter came to my rescue and started helping me add music to a handful of songs. Eventually, her time became an issue so my search for help continued.

After an extended period of time in making contacts with people I know who are musicians and also advertising on band sites, I came up empty. But not exactly, I did gain a contact with a man in Garland. This man told me that it would be best to develop the sound for my songs before having a band. Having completed songs are easier for others to duplicate he explained, this too would bring a consistency to my songs. For a fee, he worked with me in composing an additional amount of songs. But as life goes on challenges still tend to arise for all of us. During this time, this man came down with health conditions, he now is no longer able to function in the same capacity.

During the last year, I have written and produced some music that I am very happy to share. I am currently making my way around the DFW metroplex building a stage presence. In this time, I have developed a greater understanding of what it takes to get music to the listeners. Just in the last year on Spotify my music has been heard in 27 different countries around the world and streamed over 22k times. I am continuing to promote my work while compiling new music. Gaining traction, learning, and making new contacts are very important in every industry that I’ve worked and this is no different.

There is no question life can be very challenging. While working, I have done a lot of things that were not pleasant, I’ve been discouraged, ridiculed, and humiliated for someone else’s purposes. I know how to get through adversity and overcome allot of other obstacles. I also know determination and persistence are required to become successful. Realizing you may have to go through some of these things working at something you hold no passion also inspires me to face the same challenges pursuing a dream.

My music is very meaningful to me and has been driven greatly by my life experiences and when others are able to relate to them makes me happy. I write music for the enjoyment of myself and others. I hope my words may influence someone else to remember their dreams and passions and find the inspiration to make their mark on the world doing something they truly love. Believe in yourself – others that don’t won’t. Sometimes it takes getting over a lot of hurdles to make it to the finish line.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Some of my biggest obstacles I have faced and continue to face deal with myself. Not taking the time to advance my skills, my learning, and knowledge this reflects in the time and level of success I will reach. Being able to break out of my personal comfort zone and do something different is another obstacle. We all have real life situations we can blame to avoid the true obstacles in becoming successful. Time, money, family, and friends will be a large number of obstacles and challenges that will give most of us enough of an excuse to disregard our passion for success in pursuing a dream. We all hold our own addictions, bad habits, and cravings that create a self burden moving us away from our goals. Along with other arising tragedy’s and hardships, its a wonder anyone reaches the level of success. I am not different than anyone else, the difference is the choices I make. I base my choices on morals, ethics, and common sense and try to learn from the observations and results of others.

I believe what makes me special is who I am – Everyone has different life experiences and I bring mine to my music If that makes me special in a good way or bad way its really up to the listener. I write my songs to be uplifting and I avoid sending messages of poor influence and addictive behavior. My life experiences and the mindset I have will set me apart from every other songwriter out there today.

I have built buildings all across the country and have seen them torn down, I have created businesses and they too have disappeared. When I create a new song, I know that it will outlast everything else I have helped build and that in itself makes me happy.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Living on a farm just for a short number of years when I was a child was special to me, Yes there was a lot of work, but having my parents and siblings there together and just the freedom of riding horses daily along with all of the other animals was great.
