Today we’d like to introduce you to Tina Nealy.
Tina, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started Paradise Cove at Lake Grapevine April 1, 2002.
When I first took over the property I had no idea what I was going to do with it I owned a restaurant across the lake and this property became available so I took on the lease from the same company I leased the restaurant from.
The previous owner had a wedding booked so I honored the commitment to the bride and did her wedding and on that day, I realized that I wanted to do weddings and special events for the rest of my life so I started renovating the property into a wedding and special events venue.
My husband, Brent Crawford and I operate and manage the business together and are blessed to work with amazing clients so it truly never feels like work to either of us.
We have hosted over 1000 events and still absolutely love what I do each and every day so I know God planned this property and this business for me long before I ever knew it existed.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
In May 2015, we suffered a devastating flood as Lake Grapevine flooded. The building and property flooded so we had to move events and were closed for several months.
We should have gone out of business but by the Grace of God and the support from the Grapevine community, our clients and too many volunteers to count we stayed in business and renovated the facility and reopened in October 2015.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
My passion in life is giving to others so we donate the facility to countless nonprofits to host fundraisers to help others.
Though we are most known for weddings and I absolutely love doing weddings, the weddings and other paid events actually provide the opportunity for me to donate to help others in need as they provide the finances to run the business so I can donate the facility and funds for fundraisers.
My philosophy in life is if you can give you should give whether its time, talents, prayers or finances so that is the most important part of paradise cove.
What were you like growing up?
Strong-willed, stubborn and determined.
From an early age, I always dreamt of being in a position of helping others.
