Meet Tish Smith and Pam Morris of Pretty Princess Braid & Style Bar in Cedar Hill

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tish Smith and Pam Morris.

Tish and Pam, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
We opened the Pretty Princess Braid & Style Bar on June 1, 2019, in historic downtown Cedar Hill as an inclusive hair experience for EVERY Princess. We have created a space where girls are pampered, allowed to embrace their unique beauty, create special bonds, and have a great time!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been a smooth road; however, we have faced each challenge by keeping our goals in mind and being flexible enough to make the necessary changes for success. We are still in the early stages of business, and we know that there is still so much to do and to perfect, but we’re up for the challenge!

Pretty Princess Braid & Style Bar – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We specialize in braids and styles for children and pre-teens. By creating a salon that welcomes EVERY girl, EVERY texture, EVERY length, and EVERY unique quality they each possess, we help to ensure that they love and embrace what makes them special. We also want to teach them to appreciate the differences and beauty in their friends. There are numerous salons available to them, but what sets us apart is our focus on pampering the “whole” girl. We want every girl to leave feeling beautiful inside and out as well as empowered to face the world head-on!

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The proudest moment to date was our grand opening, and seeing the girls faces when they walked in. It is one thing to talk to the mothers about our vision for the salon, but to see the face of a little girl experiencing the magic of the salon takes it to another level. Every smiling face leaving our doors gives us a chance to take a step back and realize that we are making a difference.
