Meet Tolicia Solomon of Toasted Therapeutics

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tolicia Solomon.

Tolicia Solomon

Tolicia, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My story is one of faith, resilience, and answering a calling I didn’t even realize was mine at first. I left the Army in 2014 after serving three years, determined to create a new life for myself and my son. Service runs deep in my family—my mother retired after 21 years in the Army—so resilience, discipline, and perseverance are values that shaped me early on.

In 2017, I graduated from cosmetology school. I enjoyed working with hair and nails, but I knew deep down that my true calling was still waiting for me. During the pandemic in 2020, I received an unexpected call from a massage school in Arlington, and I immediately recognized it as God’s confirmation that this was the path I was meant to take. From that moment on, I embraced massage not just as a profession, but as my ministry of healing.

Over time, I’ve been blessed to work with incredible mentors who modeled integrity and excellence, and I’ve grown both personally and professionally. Today, I’m entering my third year with Toldson Therapy, specializing in massage and aquatic therapy for special needs clients, while also running my private practice, Toasted Therapeutics, now in its fourth year.

Looking ahead, my vision is to expand into teaching, mentoring, and community impact, using my massage therapy instructor license to inspire the next generation of therapists and create a lasting legacy of healing and excellence.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. Just 48 hours after moving to Texas in 2020 to start this new chapter, my stepmother passed away, and I had to balance my grief with being present for my family and my son. Soon after, the realities of being a single mother with no support system here set in, and I had to learn how to juggle school, work, parenting, and healing all at once. Financial strain was another obstacle—I often questioned whether I could afford to keep pushing toward my goals.

There were also moments of doubt, especially as I compared myself to others who seemed to have more resources, connections, or stability. Still, those struggles taught me how to lean fully on God’s strength, to get creative with my resources, and to trust that He would carry me through. Every setback has shaped me into the therapist, business owner, and mother I am today, and I wouldn’t trade the lessons learned along the way.

As you know, we’re big fans of Toasted Therapeutics. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Toasted Therapeutics is a proud Black-owned, woman-owned, and veteran-owned massage practice serving the DFW community. Our mission is simple: use the healing power of therapeutic touch to restore the body, calm the nervous system, and create a sense of peace that clients carry back into their lives. We specialize in heat-forward, results-driven bodywork—leveraging thermotherapy (targeted heat applications) to encourage circulation, ease pain, and accelerate recovery—delivered in a serene, welcoming space.

What we’re known for is equal parts technique and intention. Every session begins with listening—assessing stress patterns, daily demands, and goals—so the work is truly customized. Clients tell us they feel “seen” on the table: the pressure is precise, the pacing is intentional, and the environment is designed to help the body finally exhale. I also bring specialized experience serving neurodivergent and special needs clients (including aquatic therapy through my work with Toldson Therapy), which informs our calm, sensory-aware approach for anyone managing anxiety, chronic pain, or overwhelm.

What sets us apart is the heart behind the hands. I’m an Army veteran and a licensed massage therapy instructor (LMTI), and I treat this work like a calling—combining discipline and clinical skill with warmth, dignity, and prayerful presence. We don’t operate like a franchise; everything is personal, relationship-based, and excellence-driven. Brand-wise, I’m most proud that clients experience Toasted Therapeutics as a place of genuine care and consistent outcomes—and that our commitment to education extends beyond the treatment room through mentoring and scholarship efforts for massage students.

Offerings at a glance (curated for results + relaxation):

Calm Currents – my signature Swedish-style service for deep relaxation and nervous-system reset.

Muscle Melter – focused deep-tissue work to release stubborn tension and improve mobility.

Thermotherapy-enhanced sessions – targeted heat applications to support circulation, pain relief, and recovery.

Special needs & aquatic therapy – adaptive, sensory-aware care (aquatic work provided through my role with Toldson Therapy).

Instruction & mentoring – as an LMTI, I’m expanding training opportunities for the next generation of therapists.
If there’s one thing I want readers to know, it’s that Toasted Therapeutics is more than a massage appointment—it’s a restorative experience grounded in skill, compassion, and faith. We meet you where you are, tailor the work to your needs, and send you back into your life feeling lighter, clearer, and supported.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
I see risk as an act of faith — stepping into the unknown while trusting that God’s plan is greater than my own. To me, risk isn’t about recklessness; it’s about courage, discernment, and obedience to the direction God is leading you. One of the biggest risks I’ve taken was moving to the DFW area in 2020 to pursue massage school. Within just 48 hours of arriving, I experienced the devastating loss of my stepmother. It would have been easy to turn back, but I chose to stay the course, and that decision transformed my life and career.

Another major risk was building my own practice instead of taking a franchise job. That path might have seemed more stable from the outside, but I knew it wasn’t aligned with my purpose. Starting Toasted Therapeutics as a single mom, a veteran, and a new therapist was a leap of faith that required sacrifice and resilience. Yet, it gave me the freedom to shape my brand authentically, to serve my clients on my own terms, and to walk fully in my calling.

I believe risks are necessary for growth. Every time I’ve chosen faith over fear, I’ve discovered strength I didn’t know I had and blessings I couldn’t have imagined. For me, risk isn’t just about what I might lose — it’s about what I stand to gain by trusting God, betting on myself, and refusing to settle for less than the life He designed me to live.
