Today we’d like to introduce you to Tommy and David Nolan-Teasdale.
Tommy has grown up in the flowers business. He has been able to travel around the world with the floral industry doing both retail and events, wholesale product development and educational programs.
Finally landed him a position with a high-end party store in Chicago.
June of 2000, he relocated back to the DFW area. Where he began a new career with Ashley furniture home. Running their display department and buying third-party accessories. Over the meanwhile, I’m having a freelance floral event business.
After 17 years, it was time for a change, and the event business growing. Tommy and David decided it was time to build a brick and mortar. With the event business taking over their home now, they decided that a fun romantic high-end flower boutique was missing in the Pantego, Arlington area. In June 2018, Urban Country Flower co. Was born. The first year was located in a shared retail space with only 400 ft. ². Then, June 1, Tommy and David relocated Urban Country Flower co. Across the street to a new location of 1600 ft. ². The shop has a gritty urban Warehouse look. Featuring fresh flowers, plants, vintage accessories, and gifts.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
To us, it seems like most of the flower shops in the Arlington area had gotten to be more of boring orders center. Our challenge was how do we bring that fun, romantic, funky factor to our shop.
Please tell us about Urban Country Flower Co.
We are known for European fresh/silk flower style hand ties, and fun funky vintage and new gift home/garden accessory. Yes, pride ourselves on their customer service.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
One of my favorite memories is no matter where my dad moved us, he would always find a local garden center. Where we go and discover plants and local treasures.
