Today we’d like to introduce you to Tomorrow Leigh.
Tomorrow, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
The skin has always intrigued me from the time I was a pre-teen. I would heat up a large pot of boiling water, place a towel over my head and imagine being at a decadent spa as the steam seeped into my pores. I even concocted recipes made of honey and oats as an exfoliating mask and wearing my grandmother’s ponds cold cream to keep my skin silky smooth. Then when I was 21 years old, I received my first facial and that’s when the skin curator was born. There are passions in life; you just know you are born to pursue. Mine was becoming an esthetician.
I began my aesthetics career in southern California 21 years ago back when every product line and product emphasized exfoliating the skin as an anti-aging skincare regimen. Unfortunately, that philosophy produced many inflamed, dry, over exfoliated, sensitized and pigmented faces. The solution to that serums, peptides, oils and humectant products that bind moisture to skin and aid with one’s own healthy glow. Or as I call it dewy plump, radiant skin. When your skin looks and feels good, you feel good in return.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There are moments in one’s life that define what direction your life can take. My moment occurred a few years ago when I sold my home, said my goodbyes to clients and coworkers and moved to Dallas to get married. The plan that I had envisioned for my life did not actually come to fruition. And I found myself alone, no job, away from family and starting my life over at 46. To say I was scared is an understatement but there is something beautiful that can take place when everything gets stripped away. One of my dearest friends looked me in the eye and said T it’s time to bet on you and In that moment of uncertainty. The Dwell Spa was literally formed (fun fact Dallas means dwelling). Even though the name. and location fell into place. I was also blessed to know amazing souls who guided me with setting up social media, a beautiful website, business tips, logos. Products and all aspects of putting a business together. Does that mean I have a fairy tale ending no but I’ve been surrounded with so much love and encouragement that when setbacks do occur, I am able to push through. It takes a skin village and my village is absolutely amazing.
With that said, we are all experiencing unchartered territory with Covid-19. As a skin therapist, my main priorities are safety, trust and comfort for every guest, by wearing my ppe’s and communicating all sanitizing, disinfecting. Practices guests can experience much-needed self-care in peace..
The Dwell Spa – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Dwell Spa’s purpose is an overall balance of mind, body and spirit. When you feel good, everything else flows and your skin health is an extension of this. As a skin curator, I specialize in effective desired results without using aggressive methods to achieve them. All products that are used from Environ to Karin Herzog and our CBD line Code of Harmony work together in a synergy resulting in skin repair, revitalization and restoration. There is no greater joy than when a guest sees their skin after a facial and says,” you’re a skin magician!”
My mother once told me: when you do what you love, you never work a day in your life. Well, I can honestly say I haven’t worked in 20+ years.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Success isn’t always measured by how well you do but how you persevere through the missteps.
