Meet Toni Chamberlin of West Fort Worth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Toni Chamberlin.

Hi Toni, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My journey into becoming a wellness practitioner began 20 years ago when I found myself experiencing debilitating issues with my back, despite leading a pretty healthy lifestyle. Through seeking natural solutions, rather than pharmaceuticals, I discovered the benefits of yoga, and shiatsu therapy. Both shifted my physical AND mental health. I began to feel calmer, stronger, and more present. In 2016 I moved to Austin, and found an amazing yoga studio that literally altered my path!
During a full moon yoga and sound bath they announced a teacher training, beginning on my birthday! Signing up for that training was one of the best decisions I made. Toward the end of my training I started hearing about the healing art of Reiki and became curious about it. I mentioned it while chatting with an old friend and she said a mutual acquaintance of our practiced it. In one session I was amazed and wanted to know more! Within a few months I found myself in her living room learning this beautiful ancient practice that I now teach others.
We were also introduced to Ayurveda nutrition in our teacher training, which lead me to discover some sensitivities and intolerances I was unaware of, though explained many gut and health issues I had experienced. In 2023 I earned my certificate in Ayurvedic Nutrition Counseling.
I am so grateful for all the things that led me to where I am today and still learning more!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Oh I definitely experienced some challenges along the way, though I wouldn’t trade any of it, because I’ve learned so much. When I moved to Austin I was a single mom with a low paying job, and a teenager trying to find her tribe in a new high school. We both were trying to find our new tribes/support systems.
What I discovered is that the deeper I went into the holistic world, the less my circumstances seemed to cause me concern. I found joy in the simples pleasures, connecting with wonderful people and appreciating what we did have. My daughter also began to thrive, finding new friends, a renewed love of learning, and our family began to grow! Many of our friends became like family, and we adopted several cats and dogs.
Our lives really were transformed, and I thought there was nothing to slow it down. Then in 2020 family obligations came up and I chose to sell our home and move, temporarily, to north Texas. The difference between our joyful, and full lives and the slower, more cautious way of life in our new home was surprising! Of course everything was different around this time, so it took quite a while to find people with similar ways of approaching life. Now I have beautiful friendships and appreciate how every place has its own unique energy and nuances.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My wellness practice is a blend of all of the experiences I have had myself. Through a variety of careers, from office management to teaching Montessori, and now bringing the ancient practices of Yoga, Reiki and Ayurveda together, I am able to meet my clients wherever they are in life! Reiki truly enhances your clair senses, and I love sharing the insights that arise with clients during our sessions. When I work with clients, in any fashion, they end of receiving a variety of modalities. These may include color therapy, nutritional suggestions, guidance in yoga postures, breath work, somatic movement, guidance in all spheres of life, and more. Each session is individualized, for both new and returning clients.
I love working with people in improving their mental and physical health, as well as spiritual well being!

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I like the variety and that nothing is very far away. We’re 20 minutes from downtown Fort Worth, 50 from Dallas, and 20 from hills, lakes and trails. It’s also becoming more dog friendly! Some great restaurants have opened up in the last few years, and many with options for the more common food issues people are experiencing. Another thing I love is listening to the cicadas, and being able to grow an amazingly lush garden!
Haha, well the traffic and aggressive drivers are challenging! I’m lucky to have a flexible schedule, so it’s easier to avoid the busiest times of the day. Since we are in Texas, the intense summer heat makes it challenging to be outside as much as I prefer. I’ve learned to take advantage of getting out after a storm, or in the cooler temps of the morning.
