Today we’d like to introduce you to Toral Mistry.
Hi Toral, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
Because I come from a creative and artistic family, I always see things creatively. While pursuing my degree in Interior Design, I have always been passionate about taking pictures. In my college program, my brother gave me his digital camera to use as part of my studies. During my study projects, I took lots of pictures of my study projects, and in 2010 I began to document street style and lifestyle shoots. I joined a street photography group in Ahmedabad, India. My work caught the attention of others, and I started being asked to take their pictures as well. I completed my advanced postproduction and flash photography certification course from Ahmedabad, India. My best opportunity to work as a freelancer came here in 2013 after I got married. I was determined that a full-time job would not suit me and my nature, so I decided either I should continue working in interior design or I should start doing portrait photography. Being surrounded by beautiful natural views and locations inspired me to capture them with my camera, so I began investing in photography equipment, my experience as a photography assistant allowed me to gain valuable experience covering events like weddings, birthday parties, and so on. I worked for 2 years with Dallas, TX’s #1 Wedding Photographer https://blog.lomeshpatel.com/ Lomesh Photography; in exploring a variety of photographic styles with different cultures, I discovered that freezing human moments was a great pleasure, so I started taking photos of my friends’ parties, and I got more events and became more busy capturing all those special moments. It is my husband’s motivation and push that inspires me to be the best version of myself so I can become an artist my entire life. The support I have received from family and friends has helped me to expand my business more and more each day, and now I am working as a freelance photographer in the DFW metroplex.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Life is a journey filled with lessons, hardships, joys, celebrations, and special moments that will ultimately lead us to our destination and our purpose in life; keeping a balance between personal and professional life was difficult for me as a full-time homemaker and mother to twin daughters. The shoot usually occurs on weekends, when we spend time as a family. Because of this, I started planning my weekends for my family alongside my event schedules. As well as finding balance, I also struggle to get out of my comfort zone and meet new people. In that regard, photography has been very helpful to me.
We’ve been impressed with Toral Mistry Photography, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Since I have been involved with various shoots for over 5 years, I specialize in event photography and lifestyle photography. Being the mother of twin daughters, I enjoy taking photos of kids, such as cake smashes and first birthdays, and getting to know my clients so I can capture them in their best light as well as make them feel comfortable. It is my responsibility to capture the emotional moments of human beings and to ensure that these moments are captured. Every time I participate in an event, I do my best to support this emotional journey. A very important aspect of my work is that I cover all events myself and also do all post-production myself. The goals I set for myself each year make me proud of what I’m doing, and I look forward to achieving them.
