Today we’d like to introduce you to Toya Knowles.

Toya, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started my profession as a young adult right out of high school. I attended Pivot Point International Beauty School in Evanston, Illinois. While in school, I Became a Wife at a very young age of 18. After being married a little least then six months the relationship turned for the worst. I was now in a domestic violence relationship. After dating all threw high school. The first encountered I stayed because he was so sorry he cried and said he didn’t know what overcame him. He cleaned his act up for over a year. Then shortly after, when he started getting caught up in cheating and when I would address it, he wanted to fight. As always, he’s sorry. I could write a book about my life but the draw for me to leave was when I was home sleep and he came in late about 2 in the morning he wanted me to get out of bed and fix him some food the crazy thing because I believed in catering to my husband at the time it was already in a plate with the microwave lid on, all he had to do was go to the refrigerator and place it in the microwave, but that night that was too much like right.

So he goes into the closet come back out by the bed and pulls a pistol out and says I bet you will get your Butt up now so I get up and walk to the bedroom door to go get his food and before I know it. He pulls the trigger. My life flashed before me but Jehovah. God was watching over me he didn’t have any bullets in the gun. This was my key to leave. Because at this point, I knew it was going to keep going downhill. I have had other obstacles & some health challenges that has made me look at life so different. My Love for hair saved my life because now I was determined to keep working on me to build my self-esteem up and I want to share this with my clients help them keep their confidence up threw all of what life May throw our way.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
