Meet Retired Army Veteran Sgt. Tracey Ford

Today we’d like to introduce you to Retired Army Veteran Sgt. Tracey Ford aka Laweziana.

Hi Sgt. Tracey, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
I started off dancing as a young girl, which led to fitness as an adult to save my life. I had to commit to living a healthier, better life. I served my country in the U.S. Army & proudly with honor. After getting sick and being injured in Iraq, I had to face a lot of decisions all at once about my illness. After being injured it changed my life. I went from running to barely walking because of my disability. I turned something life-threatening & made it my mission to help others that were diagnosed with serious medical issues. After I retired from the Army, I became a Fitness Instructor.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It’s been a struggle & go thru many obstacles due to my medication and my disability, but I continue to fight & stay positive. It’s sometimes difficult to do normal things when you wear medical devices or have stipulations that require you to be inside. I still continue to push.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Laweziana Dance Fitness?
Laweziana Dance Fitness was created for all ages, shapes & sizes to encourage others to try and cope with daily life or any other challenges they may go through. I wanted to share my story in hope that I can save one person or everyone that I could. Weight issues lead to depression and medical issues lead to even more weight issues. From stress and anxiety, I know. I just wanted to create a platform for people to be comfortable while having fun & getting fit.

Laweziana Dance Fitness is designed to help others get fit and meet others like themselves to help cope with daily activities. Comradeship, teamwork, and motivational classes are my priority.

Laweziana Dance Fitness is a unity of people that inspire & encourage one another to stay lifted with high spirits & most of all creating a plan to stay healthy & make it a lifestyle habit. I’m different from others because I make my students my priority & we are a team. Like a family of people designed to fight for their life by choosing to stay moving & helping others along the way. We don’t just do fitness, we celebrate life, birthdays, acknowledgments, and graduations. We support one another through hard times and good times. It’s not just business with me, it is personal.

I am proud of my unity that I’ve created all over the world. I am a Certified National Presenter for 50 States. My brand is my Name. My Life. My loyalty to the people that I will do my best to create a platform where not only they can get fit but for their families as well.

I want people to know I have a no-judge zone environment that I created because I use to feel uncomfortable working out at some places, but my class is open to anyone and everyone. We all need that assurance that we can just be ourselves and that’s what I promote.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success is making a plan or plans and working towards them daily. Creating a goal and staying committed to that goal. If you fall get back up & try again. If you do get back up, then you are already successful!!! Success is me not ever giving up!!
