Today we’d like to introduce you to Tracy Gonzales.
Tracy, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Cooking is my passion. I learned from my Grandmother. She would set me up on the counter and not only talk to me about the meal she was preparing for us, but each dish had a story. Cooking, to me, isn’t just about the food. It’s about memories, comfort and love. My Saturday mornings were spent watching Frugel Gourmet instead of cartoons.
I am where I am in my career today because of my Grandmother. I learned my passion from her. There were many years working for others. And I learned a lot from them all. Events and making meals for your family are much different.
I finally took a leap when a friend had their caterer bail last minute! Yikes, right?! I stepped in, and that’s when I knew it was time to go out on my own.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely not. But that rocky road has made me who I am. I’ve dealt with more loss than most could handle. A father, best friends, and my Grandmother who inspired it all. I am also a single mother to the most amazing young man anyone could hope for. He is the driving force behind everything I do. In fact, he’s my best taste tester!
Tracy Events Catering – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Tracy Events Catering is a full-service business. Coordination, food, bar and rentals. I specialize in my grazing tables. I love creating fun new menus with my clients. Plated, passed apps or stations, you name it, we do it! I’m most proud of the detail and care that myself and staff put into each and every event. We are here for you-not ourselves. Anything to make the party worry about one less thing.
I think we are different from other companies because we take the time to get to know the client. We don’t simply take an order and show up. We learn what your vision is and make it happen.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
We recently catered a wedding that is to be televised soon! I obviously can’t give any details until it’s announced to air. I had the most amazing staff with me that day to keep me sane. And by the end of the evening, the bride and groom were so happy. It made my heart happy. The organized chaos behind the scenes is what makes it all worth the smiles and thank you’s from the party.
