Today we’d like to introduce you to Tracy Miles.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
The shop was founded 13 years ago by another owner. I was still working in corporate America as a Support Desk supervisor. Six years ago, my positioned as a supervisor got reorganized and I was laid off. I had always maintained my barber license and started barbering full time. Within a year the previous owner decided to sale the barbershop to me and I purchased it. Since then I relocated the shop from Plano, Texas to Allen, Texas.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s been a challenging transition deal with obstacles such as slum lords in our previous location.
The building was not probably maintained but the rent was cheaper. Since my relocation the rent has doubled. Another challenge was maintaining stylist. And having reliable barbers.
Krossover barbershop – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We are a unisex barbershop, we cater to all hair textures, that’s one thing that sets us apart from other shops. The barbers take pride in their work and they are all independent contractors. We specialize in customer service and perfection. One thing I am most proud of is it’s a family oriented business anybody can come to Krossover barbershop and have a good experience.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The proudest moment is beating the odds, when someone tells me I can’t do something, that just give me the extra motivation to do it. Also, being highly educated and receiving a masters degree.
