Meet Trailblazer Aleida

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aleida.

Aleida, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I began my career as a professional makeup artist in 2015 as a freelancer. Then, in 2016, I began working for a world-renowned cosmetics brand, Estée Lauder where I received extensive training and certifications with other brands as well. I also attended multiple seminars where I learned some of Hollywood’s top beauty secrets from Mario Dedivanovic, Samuel Rauda, Ariel Tejada, and Kevin James Bennet. I received my Ogle diploma and cosmetology license in 2017. Thereafter, I competed as a makeup artist and hairstylist for Wella, Face off, The Makeup Show, and Beacon awards. I had the chance to work with top photographers, modeling agencies, and world tanning club for body building shows across the country. I worked for the Dry Bar for a bit which I loved but currently, I’ve decided to focus on being a brand specialist for Estée Lauder in the DFW area. I’m working on so many secret projects for Audlei 2019 and I can’t wait for what’s to come.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s never going to be a smooth road, that’s what makes it worth it. I think that if I have ever struggled with anything it has been with my own personal private life and I cope through that with makeup and making others feel beautiful. I find fulfillment in that. Being able to express myself through my editorial work is self-therapeutic. I put my emotions there and then I’m onto the next project.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Audlei – what should we know?
Audlei is an all beauty service company. I have a team of 5 girls and we all bring something different to the brand. We offer makeup, hair, waxing editorial, and tanning services. There’s more to come which I cannot speak of, but I’m excited to have people know what Audlei is truly about because the direction of it will soon change.

So much of the media coverage is focused on the challenges facing women today, but what about the opportunities? Do you feel there are any opportunities that women are particularly well positioned for?
What I find fascinating is that in the beauty industry, most brands are actually run by man which is crazy to me because they don’t know much about beauty! You can look up hair, skin or makeup brands and the CEO is most likely a man. Imagine what the beauty industry would be like if these bigger brands were run by women who understood what other women wanted? We think that we are in a movement of empowerment when truly we are going backward. I could go so much into detail about this but the interview would then be very long.
