Annie, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
For years, I’ve loved sending gift & care packages to friends & family, and realized pretty quickly that for far-away friends, there weren’t many options other than flowers, cookies, or a big ornate gift basket. I would create gift packages myself – going to stores to find just the right items, wrapping them up with a note, and boxing them to ship. I always thought there should be a better way – like a service that offered unique, thoughtful gifts that were more modern, & could be sent quickly and easily!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I always heard that starting & owning a business is extremely hard. And it is – but not in the way I expected. After years of working in event planning, I really enjoyed the work that went into getting Just Hit Send started; designing & styling gifts, working with designers to create a brand image & website, coordinating multiple projects at once, and customer service… But what you don’t realize is that the hard part is keeping your head up when things don’t play out as expected. I love listening to other women entrepreneurs who have more experience, and encourage staying motivated & positive because if you keep at it, things usually work out. And so far, they’ve been right.

I created Just Hit Send to offer a modern, thoughtful gift option to the ready-to-send market. We search the country (and the world) for unique, artisanal items and compose them into sleek gift boxes that can be sent anywhere nationwide in two-days. I love that Just Hit Send is able to help people send a thoughtful gesture to someone when they may need it most. I believe that sending a gift creates a connection that sometimes words alone can’t!
One of the things we are most proud of is that our gift packaging is completely sustainable & eco-friendly. We also source products that are organic, all-natural & sustainably-made whenever possible, and donate a portion of every gift sold to OneTreePlanted to plant trees in areas of need. It’s our way of making gifting a positive experience all the way around!
Do you recommend any apps, books or podcasts that have been helpful to you?
The podcasts I love to listen to on a regular basis are Marie Forleo & Barbara Corcoran, both successful women entrepreneurs & coaches. As far as books & other sources of influence, I’ve always looked up to Danny Meyer as an entrepreneur who took risks & laid the groundwork for creating a new concept, and growing it with wild success.
