Today we’d like to introduce you to Beatriz Mages.
Beatriz, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I first got into fitness at 15 years old when I joined the powerlifting team to maintain my weight after a brief discovery of hypothyroidism. I soon fell in love with the sport and was always naturally strong. Throughout college, I struggled to maintain my weight while facing the adversities of hypothyroidism. Rather than taking pharmaceutical medications during this journey, I have tried a more naturopathic approach to the issue. I practice a holistic lifestyle relying on natural herbs, foods, and remedies to naturally improve the issue while incorporating fitness. After learning so much about hormones and weight loss for women, I have felt motivated to share my story, lifestyle, and knowledge.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. The way I describe it to people is “imagine working out and eating healthy every day and never knowing if your body will even respond, and sometimes it does the opposite and you gain a bunch of weight, and your brain is foggy, and you forget a lot, and every day, you are tired easily. There are a few mornings with energy unless you’ve slept far more than the average person.” My advice is to not have a hopeless attitude looking into achieving the body of your dreams because you have adversity that conflicts with achieving your goals as easily as others. It sucks, but not doing something about it sucks more. You are going to have to do more and try harder, but the time, effort, and money that you put in, investing in your body will collect an abundance of interest for your longterm health.
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
Currently, I have a vlog channel on YouTube called “just another fitness vlogger” that a good friend of mine challenged me to try to see if I could be consistent with a hobby to help achieve my dreams of being a fitness “influencer” if you will. I simply would like to achieve a well-known status as an online trainer and body consultant, I would love to teach, market, and sell the services that will help people achieve their goal bodies the holistic and natural way.
Do you recommend any apps, books or podcasts that have been helpful to you?
I mainly use Instagram and YouTube to try and gain a “well-known” status for my knowledge and my services in the Dallas area, and someday beyond.
