Today we’d like to introduce you to Ciara Martinez.
Ciara, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
What can you change if you really want to? EVERYTHING. What is possible is up to you. The smallest step in the right direction could end up being the BIGGEST step of your life. I remember seeing this pic on the left and not even recognizing myself. I cried. I felt sorry for myself. The whole “why me”. I thought I was predestined to be big. I couldn’t possibly comprehend transforming into my now self. But I was miserable, depressed, and at rock bottom.
So I DECIDED to start changing. I made the switch to keto and started exercising from the start. It was HARD, moving my former body around and changing everything about the way I ate. But I knew it would be even harder if I stayed where I was so I kept on. Guess what? Things got easier. I slowly began to find myself. Anyone can do it. You just have to keep trying- every day. It won’t always be easy or fun, but I promise you it will be worth it 💗.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Habits will sustain you whether your inspired or not. I’ve gone in and out of many inspirational seasons throughout my journey. Do you think I wake up motivated every day? Nah. This is where the habit comes in. I knew in the beginning that I had to change my days then if I wanted my future to look different. Some days I just walked, some days I hit PR’s, and some days I just stretched. Little by little, over time the gym became a second home. Motivation will get you started—but habits—that’s what will keep you going. NEVER GIVE UP!
We’d love to hear more about your work.
I help women learn how to live a healthy lifestyle by eating clean and moving their bodies. I feel so blessed to do the majority of my work online as it allows me to help women all over the world. I’ve been at the rock bottom and I truly know how to identify with a lot of the struggles the go through.
Finding a mentor and building a network are often cited in studies as a major factor impacting one’s success. Do you have any advice or lessons to share regarding finding a mentor or networking in general?
I found my mentor and still trainer today, Silvio Zarate when I started working in the gym. He had a true passion for helping others and showed me how to do the same. Put yourself in an environment with people that you aspire to be like. They will force you to level up.
