I have always been passionate about anything that had to do with beauty. When I graduated high school, I knew that was the career path I wanted to take, so I enrolled in cosmetology school upon earning my license I didn’t want to just stop there. I learned and I gravitated more towards working with skin and makeup, so with that, I took several certification courses. I wanted to learn from the best and enhance my craft, throughout my journey I discovered my love for lashes. They make just everything come together, I loved the idea of being able to customize them to every person’s needs and along the way came across lash extensions. I debated for a very long time about pursuing it, after researching and putting a bit of thought into it I went for it and have not been able to stop there. I love what I do, I love helping people feel confident and beautiful. The feeling my clients give me after they see them self’s and their happy with my work is just priceless and I wouldn’t change it for anything else.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
This journey has definitely been a rocky one. Trying to build your own business and becoming your own boss definitely takes a lot of work. There have been times where I’ll stay up late at night, trying to figure out ways to build my business, my clientele and then there have been times, where I’ve cried of overwhelmed feelings of all the changes and struggles and sometimes of just pure happiness of how much I’ve progressed. Nothing that’s worth it is going to come easy. My advice to anyone that trying to make their dreams reality is to not give up no matter how overwhelming, and frustrating your journey may find balance with what trying to become and who you are now. Don’t forget where you started and of the people who supported you.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about your business – what should we know?
I specialize In makeup artistry and lash extensions. I am known for my gentleness and detailed work. I’m most proud of having the opportunity do what I love and being able to meet amazing people along the way and learning who they are. In the career path I have taken, I think it’s important to keep up with the latest trends and further your education not only would you refresh your skills and find inspiration but your clients also benefit from it.
Which women have inspired you in your life?
With the beauty industry being overly saturated, you can find inspiration anywhere but nothing would come close to my main inspiration, my mother. She has been my rock throughout my journey and I wouldn’t know where I would be without her. She is such a strong, independent woman. Seeing how hard she’s worked to be where she is today has inspired me to chase after my dreams. No matter what obstacle has crossed her way, she kept going and has taught me that anything is possible.
