Today we’d like to introduce you to Destiny Nicole.
So, before we jump into specific questions about what you do, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
So, just like anyone else, my story is different. I started really doing my makeup at the age of 16, I was going through some personal things at the time so staying up late doing my makeup was my escape. I can say I truly started putting myself out there when I was 18. I got hired at MAC Cosmetics on my 18th birthday and took off with it ever since. Working at MAC has given me so much opportunity and has molded me to be where I am today. Now, that I saw the ins and what it’s like to be a Makeup Artist, I am trying to build my clientele up and work for myself and I can say believing in myself and having people unconditionally support me has gotten me where I am today. I’ve taken so many risks. I moved away from home to Lubbock on my own at 18 and moved to Dallas when I was 19. I’m now 20, if I wouldn’t have done that, I wouldn’t be where I’m at today.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I can say I’ve had a great journey so far but life happens and struggles are bound to happen. I would say my biggest struggle has been not being truly confident in what I do because I think people will judge me. I’ve gotten better about that and do what makes me happy to perfect my craft! That has been a game-changer. If I could give any advice to women, it would be don’t give up. Whatever you want to do, you can do it! Put your mind to it, always have good, supportive positive people in your circle and you will thrive in so many ways possible.

I am a makeup artist. I specialize in full, extra glam! I love working with colors on the eyes and glitter. I am in esthetician school now, so I will be expanding my services very soon come 2020. I feel I’m known for putting my personality and my style into my work. I have a vision for every client that sits in my chair. I am most proud of how far I’ve come with this makeup career of mine. I meet clients who inspire me in general. I would say my personality is what sets me apart from others. I’m very outgoing and fun and I treat my clients with respect and gain a relationship with them!
Do you recommend any apps, books or podcasts that have been helpful to you?
Michel Todd is a preacher that always speaks to me on a spiritual level. His sermons are on YouTube and I love watching them. As crazy as it sounds, I love following makeup influencers, fashion influencers. YouTubers and certain talk show hosts. They live a fast pace life and as an entrepreneur, that’s very inspiring because it can get tough sometimes, but it motivates you to get up and get going.
