Meet Trailblazer Karin Ashley Hargrove

Today we’d like to introduce you to Karin Ashley Hargrove.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Karin Ashley. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
As a young child, I fell in love with gemstones – they were so shiny, so colorful, so different!

2010 – I graduated from Indiana University with a BA in Telecommunications.

I had a couple jobs post college, where I was using my degree, but I really wasn’t happy. I wasn’t loving what I was doing, I didn’t feel like I was making a difference, I couldn’t creatively express myself. I found myself watching Office Space every day after work when it hit me that something had to change and fast! I thought long and hard about what truly makes me happy and that’s making things. So, I took a leap of faith, quit my job, and got busy! Was it easy no- NOT AT ALL… but so worth it!

My husband and I built a home and I needed to decorate it, so my business really started with – what do people need to decorate a house and make it feel like a home.

Has it been a smooth road?
Don’t be afraid of wanting more – just know that you’re going to have to work for it!

I work way more hours now than I ever did with my 9 to 5 jobs. The time clock for an entrepreneur never stops and you have to be self-motivated to succeed.

“NO” is a two-sided coin.

Don’t be afraid to hear, “NO.” It’s going to happen and it’s not going to feel great. Get used to picking yourself up and trying again. Never give up!

Also, don’t be afraid to say, “NO.” If an opportunity comes your way that isn’t a good fit for your business, it’s perfectly okay to say “NO” and walk away. The key is to stay true to yourself and always know your worth!

Which women have inspired you in your life?
My best friends from college are the most amazing women I’ve ever met! We might be scattered across the country, have different careers and busy lives, but we still manage to stay in touch and are constantly motivating each other.

I think success has a lot to do with the people we choose to surround ourselves with. My crew is full of smart, successful women, I admire each of them.
