Meet Trailblazer Molly O’Connor

Today we’d like to introduce you to Molly O’Connor.

Molly, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
While at SMU, I majored in Communication Studies and took a class where we had to make a blog for the semester. I’ve always loved taking photos and writing, so this was right up my alley. I didn’t continue with the blog after, but the idea stuck with me. I tried to start a blog again when I studied abroad, but I stopped because I was embarrassed about it and didn’t know what I was doing. I couldn’t stop thinking about it once I returned and decided to go for it 100% that summer. I’ve been blogging for three and a half years now!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Definitely not a smooth road, but I’m so thankful for every step of the way. I think all obstacles are necessary in order for us to grow and get to where we are supposed to be! One of my biggest struggles was putting my worth in numbers, whether it be likes, followers, page views, etc. I defined my success by those and let my happiness be determined by that. Thankfully, I am in a much better place now and feel so blessed to have the platform that I do. My advice would be to stay rooted in your why and let your passion carry you. Whether you’re impacting 10, 100, 1,000… there are lives on the other side always being influenced and that should be enough for you to BRING IT every day!

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
Ah! I’m so thankful to have countless passions that I pursue and discuss on my blog, Molly on the Move. I’m known for my colorful and positive feed, which means a lot to me that people associate me with all the happy vibes! I’m an extremely busy and driven person, and I love sharing tips for how to increase overall wellbeing and happiness. This has really become clear to me this past year and I hope to hone in on that more in 2019. The joy from our Father definitely translates into everything I do and I believe that charisma sets me apart. That, along with my love for donuts, marathons, and travel. 😉

Do you feel like there was something about the experiences you had growing up that played an outsized role in setting you up for success later in life?
I grew up seeing everyone in my family hustle and work hard; I’m super thankful for that! We also grew up traveling and going somewhere new every year, which instilled a love of travel for me. Both of these have contributed to my blog and where I am today.
