Today we’d like to introduce you to Rosemary de’ Medici.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My family and I are pretty new to Dallas but have quickly made it home. I spent the last 15 years working in executive sales for corporate America but after my daughter was born nearly three years ago, I realized that I wanted to pursue a career that not only offered me the ability to work with people but also the flexibility to be a mother. Real estate was a natural transition with my sales background, my gift of gab, and my love for modern architecture. I decided to start that career in Dallas for many of the reasons that so many others are choosing to make Dallas home; booming economy, welcoming community, culture, and probably one of the most important factors… the airport!
My husband is Italian and his family and much of his work takes him and our family overseas many times a year so to have access to an airport like DFW is a necessity. Once we decided to make the move to Dallas, we reached out to a few of the friends we had here to help with our transition. I am very fortunate to be married to a member of the noble family of Italy, Prince Lorenzo de’ Medici, an international artist, speaker, actor, and personality who has helped to connect me to some of the most influential families of Dallas and all over the world.
Once our friends new we were making the move, they graciously reached out to the owners of the top real estate firms in Dallas. Although they were all great options, after meeting David Griffin, it was a no-brainer for me. The firm approaches real estate in a refreshing way focusing on architecturally significant homes in Dallas that made me that much more excited about the opportunity to not only work in the field but to work with amazing homes and clients that shared my passion for architecture and design.
Once I agreed to join the David Griffin team, I quickly connected with another agent in the office that has so graciously taken me under her wing and have become a mentor for me by teaching me so much about the business and shares the same love of Modern Architecture and Design as I do. She was just on the cusp of launching her brand, Galaxy Modern and offered to bring me on to assist her in building this amazing new brand. It has been a match made in heaven and I look forward to our continued success and a long partnership together!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The road into real estate was pretty smooth. I was lucky to have chosen a great firm and to have been able to team up with one of the best agents in Dallas… but with that being said, many previously chosen roads were not easy. I grew up in a military family which made my childhood tough. Lots of moves and never enough time to build long term friendships. Then, on top of that, my mother is Korean, so I always felt a bit different or out of place. When I grew up, I never saw women on TV or in magazines that looked like me and I also had many of the same struggles that most women have regardless of race. Things are changing and getting better but we have so much farther to go and all I can say to the young women starting out is, you are the future. You are the ones that can continue to make real change. Demand respect and equality, be true to who you are and always be kind to others. Your reputation is everything and will carry you through life!
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I work as a residential real estate agent specializing in Modern Architecture in Dallas. We also work closely with builders, architects, landscape architects, and re-modelers connecting clients with them and visa versa based on their needs. Many people are unsure of where to start when they chose to build, or remodel or even put in a pool so by connecting people to the right service provider offers a great service to our business partners and to the Dallas community. Our goal is to become the authority in all things Modern!
Do you recommend any apps, books or podcasts that have been helpful to you?
I try to immerse myself in all things modern, so I refer to great sources like ArchDaily and moderndallas.net. We are also members of the Dallas Architecture Forum that offers great lectures and resources for architectural enthusiasts! I stay relevant with various Instagram feeds that share my passion for inspiring design regardless of the era! I am also taking part in an extensive sales training program and continue to educate myself in my field in any way that I can.
