Meet Trailblazer Sabina Stone

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sabina Stone.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I was born and raised in Nepal. A beautiful country with many diverse cultures, religions, and home to the highest mountain in the world, Mt. Everest. I was very fortunate to have wonderful parents who always supported me in my every path. I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Economics in Nepal and then 13 years ago, I made a decision to move to the United States to further my education. Seattle was my first home in the United States and then, I moved to Dallas. It was not an easy journey. Everything was new to me: new city, new environment, language differences, and a new culture. It was hard to adjust and it took a long time to understand this culture. I worked hard to learn and adjust to this new environment. What kept me going was my dream and my goals for my life. I always have believed in myself. I knew that I would overcome these challenges and be successful in whatever I do.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I believe that we all have our own story and everybody has to face some kind of obstacle or challenge in their life. Some have to go through a lot, others less. The lesson I have learned in my life is not to worry too much about what other people say. You need to do things that are best for you. We just need to remember that life keeps going and we need to keep moving with it. Create your own beautiful story, never give up, stay humble, be kind, and focus on your dreams. Love yourself first, work hard and one day you will succeed.

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I graduated from Texas Woman’s University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Child Development. I have a deep passion for teaching young children. I have been teaching young children for the last seven years. They are my joy and it is so fun to watch them learn and grow.

In addition to my teaching career, I create YouTube videos. I started my YouTube Channel not long ago. I always wanted to have my own channel but never had the confidence to speak in front of the camera. Last year, my loving husband bought me a camera and told me to do what I have been wanting to do for such a long time. Finally, in December 2018, I decided to launch my YouTube channel. My channel is about fashion, beauty, and lifestyle. I love fashion. I am really “fashionate” about designer handbags, shoes, and clothes. I look at them as a piece of art. I try to make my channel very authentic. These days’ social media plays a huge role in our lives. I want to tell all the beautiful women out there that they don’t need to compare themselves to those they see on social media. I feel that most people on social media want to showcase the best aspects of themselves and their lives.

Through my videos, I always try to give the positive message that we are not perfect and do not need to be perfect. As long as you are working hard and doing something you love that’s all that matters. We all get one chance at this life, take full advantage of it.

Finding a mentor and building a network are often cited in studies as a major factor impacting one’s success. Do you have any advice or lessons to share regarding finding a mentor or networking in general?
You need to always remember that you are not alone. Most of us want and need someone who can give advice and guide us in our career path. When you are looking for a mentor, you need to find someone you feel a connection to.

Ask yourself what kind of mentoring are you looking for and then find someone who is very knowledgeable, humble, down to earth and willing to help others. Women need to empower each other to be the best they can be. We’re all in this together!
