Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Schenke.
Stephanie, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started my career in the real estate title industry, just out of high school. At the time, I didn’t realize it would be such a successful, long-term career. I am proud to have achieved such a great level of success that I have today. Though, at the age of 36 and after 18 years in the industry, I am ready for the challenge of a new (side) career! I have chosen to venture out into the permanent cosmetic industry, focusing on Microblading! I chose this career for two main reasons: 1.) My love for makeup and 2.) My love for art. The fact that I am able to incorporate two of my favorite things into a career is a major plus for me! Not to mention, the fact that I can make people feel more confident and overall happier with themselves is very appealing!
Has it been a smooth road?
In all seriousness, the decision to juggle two careers did not come lightly. However, the security of knowing that I’ll have a second source of income is well worth the extra effort. I am stepping outside of my “corporate comfort zone” and taking a chance at entrepreneurship! I’m not going to lie… it has been scary! BUT, I know that with hard work and dedication, it will all pay off! If you’re out there reading this and you’re hesitant to step outside of your comfort zone, then my advice to you would be… do it first, then think about it later!

I am a Brow Artist, specializing in semi-permanent eyebrow tattooing. I perform Microblading (hair strokes and shading) as well as Brow Henna (a non-permanent brow tent). Additionally, I will soon be offering Ombre/Powder Brow and other services such as Lash Lift and Tint:

Do you feel like there was something about the experiences you had growing up that played an outsized role in setting you up for success later in life?
I supported myself from a young age. I joined the co-op work program in high school. The school program joined up with local businesses to place students in jobs best suited to their character. I was released from school at noon every day to go to work and ended up getting a job with a local attorney’s office, which was also a title company. Who would have thought that I’d have a successful career in that same industry today. I graduated high school a semester early and was 17 years old when I got my first apartment (along with a roommate). Learning to support myself at a young age has definitely shaped me as an adult. It taught me to always push forward and persevere, no matter how difficult I thought it would be.
